Emory/Oxford Admissions

Hey! Okay, so I'm applying to colleges right now. I'm a senior in a competitive high school in South Florida. I was just wondering if you guys think I have a decent chance of getting into Emory or Oxford at Emory. I'm early decisioning both.

Grades: 5 C's on my transcripts, most from freshman year. everything else is an A or B
Extracurriculars: 300+ service hours, volleyball team, Free The Children (club), Birthday Wish secretary (club), graduating with pre-law program and will complete a semester of internship starting January 2014
Major: Business/Law
ACT: 28 (yeah I know it's low, I retook it and got the same exact score, I MAY be retaking it in December, but since I'm apply ED they won't see my December score anyways)
Letters of Rec: I don't know how they are because out school doesn't allow us to read them

Do you think I have a decent chance at getting in? I know Emory is a stretch, but what about Oxford? Are my chances better because I'm applying early decision? Also, I qualify as Asian (I'm Bengali) but I didn't fill out ethnicity on common app because my grades and my scores are not as strong as many of the Asian kids in my school, so will that work against or with me? I also attended a summer information session about Emory, attended the college visit at my high school, and have exchanged emails with the South Florida Emory representative. My cousin graduated from the Emory a couple years ago, does that help? Also, my counselor told me I qualify as first generation, so will that do anything for me?

I really don't care which school I get into, I just want to get into one because it's the same thing (to me.) But yeah, it's my dream school. Do you guys think I have a chance at getting in?

***I've posted this before, but I think it was in the wrong forum. I'm new so I'm sorry if you've seen this more than once.

Definitely try to get a higher ACT score, or try an SAT. The 5 C’s on the transcript might hurt you, but idk if Emory/Oxford look at freshman grades. For now, Emory: reach~ and Oxford College: Low Reachish

What is your GPA?

my GPA is a 3.5, but I don’t know if that’s unweighted or not. And even if I do get a high ACT score, will they be able to see it? Because ED admissions come out Dec. 12th, and I won’t get my scores back by then so I won’t be able to show them

Yeah, it’s not looking too good considering your 5 C’s and 28 ACT. Emory is a reach, not sure about Oxford.

I think you can always send your ACT/SAT scores to the colleges

Emory- Reach
Oxford at Emory- high match/low reach*
*just from the source I saw, I could be wrong Oxford is small, so data is limited. I wish you luck.

Please chance me back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1569950-chance-me-please.html

Wait, so do you guys think I have a reasonable chance at getting into Oxford? Honestly? Can any of you give me a possible percent chance? Also, I appreciate all the input :)

Also - wumanizer

I know that you can always send your scores, but they’ll make their decision before I can send them my Dec. ACT scores

You probably won’t get into Emory with 5 Cs. You could probably get into Oxford, but that’s not your dream school, Emory is. Don’t just waste the first two years of college at Oxford because if you go there you automatically get into Emory. Do you even like Oxford? Explore your options don’t get too attached to Emory that you’re blind to other colleges.
