SAT - 2030: 690 CR 640 M 700W (retaking in October hoping for 2100+)
GPA - 3.8 unweighted, 4.15 weighted, and 3.89 when I use Oxford's GPA calculator.
Class Rank - 25/215 :( due to a bad Freshman year, disappointing since I had thought I was top 10%
AP classes - 5 out of the 7 my school offers, 4 years Spanish, 4 years of business, and the rest of my classes are honors so my schedule is "most rigorous""
leadership: President of Class for one year, Captain of Cross Country, Treasurer of Business Professionals of America
Clubs: Business Professionals of America - won at state conference and placed 9 out of 24 in the National competition, Foreign Language Activity Group, and National Honor Society
Volunteer: 40 hours at local hospital and another 40 for things like beach clean-up, and Soccer "Buddy" at a rec league for the mentally handicapped.

So my question is this, are my chances for Emory in Atlanta basically shot because of my class rank? and if thats true do I stand a chance for the Oxford Scholars program if I get my test scores up? Also I know this is thinking pretty far down the road but how hard is it to get the GPA needed at Oxford to go on to Goizueta? and if you do get in are you at all looked down upon by your peers because you came from Oxford?

Your extracurricular activities seem to be well-balanced and impressive enough. But because the Scholars Program emphasizes so much on merit, I would definitely study hard for the SATs (or ACTs if you decide to take them as well) and bump up the score a little. As for the GPA, don’t worry about your freshman year that much, but make sure you give it your all for the first half of senior year. With that said, I think you have a pretty good shot at Emory regular decision.

The GPA “needed” for Goizueta is fairly vague, but I know most people have higher than a 3.5. The general GPA to aim for is 3.6+ though. It’s not difficult to obtain, but there are a couple challenging courses and the workload at Oxford is just as much as Emory, if not more.

Overall, anything is doable! Same with adjusting to Emory - there will always be people who will look down on you, but don’t let that stop/discourage you from applying to either schools. Good luck!

Don’t worry about those who will look down upon you because you came from Oxford. You don’t have time for that. And they’re just wasting their time.

As drgsrh notes, I think the SATs are where you should focus. Try a prep class?

I don’t think your chances are shot for Emory or for transferring to Coizueta. I don’t where you might fall relative to Oxford Scholars, but go for it.

Do remember to take the Goizueta prerequisites your first two years.
