emory oxford...

hey, anyone apply to oxford? i'm waitin to hear back...supposed to come by the 15th1 crosses fingers

i applied. Ill only go if they give me a scholarship though.

I applied to, but I just sent off my application last week. So I don't think I'll get an admissions decision soon. How do you know when your decision is supposed to come anyways?

u applied regular decision then so u'll know by april. i applied early action and that comes by jan 15

I applied early and I want to know how Oxford contacts you. Do they message your acceptance on OPUS, email it to you, or just regular mail? I want to know which I should be checking.

Early Action?

Yes, i applied early action.

I have a question about Oxford's associate degree which is awarded at the end of the two years to all of the graduates. Do medical schools and the like look down on this? On the transcript it is surely going to say: Associate degree - Oxford, BA - Emory.

Anyone with experience in this area?

Thanks!

By the way, I also applied for EA/Scholarship.. probably going to get my letter in 15 hours..

Another question - does anyone know what the grading system is like at Oxford & Emory? COuldn't find it on the web.. (Ex. 90 = 4, or 90 = 3.7 or something..?)

Thanks

P.S. STILL waiting for the mail to arrive!.. Can't believe that the mail is this late on today of all days...

yeah i applied EA and still havent heard. i got a letter yesturday from them and it was really thin and i was like holy **** this cant be good...and it just turned out to be financial aid stuff. anyone else not heard back yet??

I got in to Oxford. Yay!! Didn't hear anything about scholarship unfortunately. Wonder when they are going to decide the Oxford Scholars.

Archdelux, you just get one BA degree if you transfer straight to Emory and medical schools won't know that you went there. If you transfer from Oxford to a different school, that is when the info about going to Oxford shows up.

Does Oxford really accept 80% of its applicants? And is it true that everyone goes home on the weekends? Please say no to the second part.

no romo.....

i still havent gotten a letter. when did u hear back?

i heard back on friday.. went camping this weekend, so i didnt post anything.. got in - I think they notify scholars in feb for the 4 year scholarships and in april for the two year scholarships..

Ladybajan - Where did you hear that information? The dean or whoever was showing me around Oxford in November told us that everyone gets a AA and then gets a BA at Emory.

my mom called today and i'm in!! im so happy yay! the mail still hasnt came today though so i dont know if my package is came today or not...

Congratulations to everyone who got it!

Oxford already mailed the scholarship decisions (I believe), so if and when anyone gets one, please post here.. (It took over a week for the acceptance letter to arrive, so they will probably come in february)

I'm just wondering, what's Oxford as a town like? And is it close to any cities?

it's a charming little town about 30-45 min depending on traffic away from atlanta

So where else is everyone applying besides Oxford?

I have a long list:

Georgetown
Tufts
Johns Hopkins
University of CHicago
ROchester
Wisconsin-Madison
Rice
carnegie mellon
case western
wesleyan
emory
vanderbilt
emory (oxford)

By the way - Jake - I'm really more of a big-city person, but I suggest that you visit Oxford/EMory if you are serious about attending. I visited, and it really changed my view of Oxford. It is a lot different on paper than it is in real life. I still have to wait untill APril to see what my options are (hopefully many!), but I will def. give Oxford full consideration, and I will probably choose it over some other schools on my list. Still waiting for my scholarship decision though..
