AHHHHH I GOT INTO EMORY COLLEGE AND OXFORD WITH 25k/yr
@Nobodyasked - Congrats! Would you mind sharing your stats?
Is anyone else having trouble accessing their portal? It’s acting like I don’t have an account…
Not a finalist but also not a surprise. RD decisions released “by 4/1,” so maybe a bit earlier than we expected.
I think Emory will meet 100% of your demonstrated financial need, though, if you don’t get a merit scholarship. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.
It states:
Will other scholarships be given out this year?
Yes. There are many strong, high-achieving students in the applicant pool. We plan to release a limited number of additional merit scholarships at Regular Decision (by April 1).
So there is still hope for those who were not selected.
Got in!!! As an international applicant, wasn’t expecting this at all. Bananas…
@Iliveonacloud No, we are not having trouble accessing my daugther´s portal.
Yes, same issue here. Stored password won’t work and reset password returns a no registered user message.
I had the same issue and turns out my portal switched to using a different email address of mine (that I haven’t used in a few years) for some reason. That was also the email address that the email was sent to.
Just out of curiosity do you guys know if getting selected as a finalist guarantees a scholarship?
I’m pretty sure it does! :))
I do think Emory does a holistic review but I have posted S21 stats (stats are not everything)
UW GPA: 3.95 (If only sophomore and junior year, probably higher as he had only one B between soph/junior year and one B senior year) with 4 AP classes and 1 Honors level class Senior yr
WGPA: 4.67 on a 5 scale
SAT: 1560
Very strong Letters of Rec (pretty sure)
Strong STEM curriculum including Multivariable calc (he plans to join the NBB program)
10 APs (mostly 5s) and 8 honors classes
Research at prestigious University last summer (and Rec from Research Mentor)
Very strong ECs overall, including accomplished musician with International, and regional awards
National Merit Recommended (from CA…so very high PSAT score but just missed the cutoff)
TA for multivariable and AP Calc BC (rec from Calc teacher)
Very Strong volunteer and leadership
Very Strong/Unique Essays (so I have been told by his counselor) though I haven’t read the Emory ones
Everyone has their place. Its about fit, and what each school looks for. S21 was deferred from Tulane, even though he felt he would be strong candidate. He also applied for their signature scholarships and didn’t get them. I share this so those that didn’t get the Emory scholarships won’t be discouraged.
That is wonderful. Congratulations!!!
