Emory RD Class of 2022

Think of it as waiting on the line to Chic-Fil-A’s drive-thru window. Once you get there, you know that you’ll be able to taste that wholesome and tender chicken goodness (hopefully)

@VanilllaIce I don’t think they’ll be that late. I believe Emory releases it’s decisions around 23rd-25th March. I’m not 100% sure, but I don’t think they stretch it out till 28th.

@VanilllaIce not when they put a big fat pickle in your chicken sandwiches

@TheTennisNinja LOL

@IntApp2022 You think so? But last year’s regular decisions came out later than March 25th. I mean, that’s only based on the applicants who actually confirmed their decisions on the 2021 RD thread. There is a chance, however, that decisions came out much earlier and no one decided to brag about it on the thread until a couple days later…
Maybe I incorrectly read the previous threads? (oh my I kept writing “thread” as “threat” - yikes)

@VanilllaIce last year decisions came out on 23rd April (Thursday) 6 pm EST, if I’m not wrong. Maybe you were reading the 2020 thread? Those were around 29th or 30th March.

@debateIguess
Someone with your same stat profile was accepted ED2. However they also was accepted to Umich early. Your essay might have actually hurt you a bit, however I want to commend you on your success as most aren’t able to do what you did. Also a 32 is a bit low for RD. However being full pay may help.
Low Reach

While it is natural to think @debateIguess essay might be a negative, I could also see it as potentially helping - schools like to see students overcome challenges and your background in ethics and strong showing in debate are both pluses for Emory that indicate you might also be a strong writer. Multiple 5s on APs is strong too. I am rooting for you! Low reach seems reasonable.

I think you have a good chance! Best of luck to you!

@VANDEMORY1342 Could you please explain what you mean by “However being full pay may help”?

@marinay not needing financial aid can be helpful to admissions.
@debateIguess
What is your class rank? I said low Reach assuming you were top ten percent, and the fact that Emory likes debaters.

@VANDEMORY1342 I didn’t know that. But I had my suspicions, and so I called our local admission representative. He told me that admission reps do not look at the financial data at all. Do you have any data to the contrary?

Emory is need aware

@caleegalee Emory is not need aware to my knowledge. @marinay Financials aren’t the only way to tell wealth, as wealth can be controlled for by using Zip code, Highschool, or even EC’s. If one goes to private school as about 30% of Emory freshman typically did, then it’s safe to say one is at least upper middle class.
