EMORY, Rice, USC, Duke, Princeton, etc... Chances?

I think you have a good chance at any of them, although Princeton might be a little of a reach. It looks like you have really challenged yourself with the classes you have taken, and you have some ECs that really make you stand out. Write an good essay and I think you’ll have a good shot at most of them! Good Luck! :)

Thanks! Yes, I have my main ones done (essays), and I’m very, very happy with how they turned out.

Kind of an update

only thing is–you’re not taking SATs? what?

Emory - high match
Rice - match
Duke - low reach
Princeton - high reach, especially since you told me about your school in my thread
Brown - low reach
BC - don’t know
USC - don’t know
Barnard - don’t know
Uillinois - probably in

thanks for replying to mine!

I’m from the Midwest, no one really does… nowhere requires it

What can I say? ur application screams Ivy. GPA is fantastic, excelling in top-ranked public school always helps, transcript is as tough as they come, ACT is great, and EC’s are amazing. Here are my chances:

Emory: Match!
Rice: Match
Duke: Match-Reach
Princeton: Reasonable Reach (for everyone)
Brown: Reasonable-BIG Reach (lol, less than 10% acceptance rate)
BC: In
USC: In
Barnard: Match-Reach
UIllinois: In

Great list, good luck!! thx for chancing me :)

Emory- match
Rice- Match
Duke-reach
Princeton-high reach
Brown-low reach
BC-low match
USC- in
Barnard-no idea
Uillinois-safety

The thing that stands out the most is the $18,000. I think that’ll get you in to most of these colleges. I can’t say about scholarships, though. I have no clue how they are judged.

Emory - in
Rice - in
Duke - match
Princeton - high reach
Brown - reach
BC - match
UI - in

I think you are in just about anywhere.

Emory - match
Rice - match
Duke - reach
Princeton - reach
Brown - low reach
BC - in
USC - in
Barnard- in
UIllinois- safety

Great profile. You should get into most of those schools. Make sure you emphasize 1-2 things in your essays, and you’ll be set. Best of luck!

Thanks! I have two essays that I’m using-- one about the development of my voice as a speaker/writer and the other about a constitutional law SC case that I worked on through a program at my school, I think they are both decent at worst.

If you really want to go to Emory, youll go to Emory. Your stats are great for Emory, and just to be safe you can apply to Oxford of Emory early action if you want. Rice is a match, as well as BC and USC. Barnard and U Illinois youre in. Duke, Brown, and Princeton are reaches (as they are for everyone) HOWEVER alot depends on how they feel about your school. If they regard your school highly, you have as good a shot as anyone. If you write great essays, I’d say youve got a good shot of getting into either Duke or Brown

Emory - in
Rice - high match/low reach
Duke - low reach
Princeton - reach for everyone basically, but you have more chance then most
Brown - low reach
BC - in
USC - in

westhamunited32:

Brown, specifically, does not like my school, mostly because everyone who gets in there (+/-5 a year) also gets into HYPS, and always turn down Brown. So all the kids who have Brown as their first choice get rejected. Basically, I’m not banking on Brown.

Emory - in
Rice - high match/low reach
Duke - low reach
Princeton - reach for everyone basically, but you have more chance then most
Brown - low reach
BC - in
USC - in
I agree with this.

Emory- Match (don’t really have a hook for scholarship)
Rice- Match
Duke- High Match (again, great grades, OK ECs)
Princeton- Reach (no hook)
Brown- reach (see princeton)
BC- match
USC- match
