Emory Scholar Applicants 2021

dang how did people already get notified

@Halie48 How do you know some people have already been informed they were selected as finalists? Were they folks already admitted ED?

@Harryp17 @Houston1021 My friend told me it was staggered? and no it was all RD

@Halie48 Your friend who was selected?

@Halie48 Does this mean if we didn’t receive an additional email that we aren’t a finalist?

^Has anyone confirmed that?

I thought the email next Wednesday was supposed to determine the finalists. So, can’t confirm. My daughter did receive the email in question above, though.

Yeah I don’t actually think anyone’s heard if they’re a finalist yet or not. I think all scholars applicant probably get the email. It’s such a long shot but I’m still hopeful!

My daughter received an email last week, too. My impression was that it was purely informational. Will check on February 8 and see what happens. I loved Emory when I visited but my daughter wants to attend a D1 school and have that as part of the college experience.

@firstwavemom : Has she considered any honors colleges at solid public schools (or scholarships), or does it absolutely have to be a medium sized private D-1? Also, be careful if the latter, because at some schools, it isn’t that important to the student body and does not influence the social life as much. Among top privates, Duke, Notre Dame, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, and Stanford strike me as the ones that have sports and a “scene” that influence the overall experience of a significant chunk of students. Most others simply have D-1 sports (Ivies). Often academics and other aspects of social life and ECs (like Greeklife, or their versions of it like eating clubs at pton or final clubs at H, and more “rich person” sports like crew/rowing tend to get attention).

Is Oxford Scholars coming out at the same at as Emory Scholars?

@therealdeal23 Yes! It’s all coming out at once.

@bernie12: My daughter is mostly looking big public universities and applied to 3 privates. Didn’t get into Duke. She has been accepted at Villanova, UGA (applying to Honors Program), UMD (Scholars Program), UVA (no honors there, but I’m an alum and think it’s a great size and has great D1 sporting events to attend). Still waiting on UFL, UMich, UCB and UCLA.
We will go to a couple of accepted student visits and go from there. It’s all very exciting and we are thrilled she has such great options already.

@firstwavemom : Excellent. UMD and UGA have excellent honors colleges and UVA is just excellent, overall, so she does indeed have excellent have great options.

does anyone know how many finalists there are out of the 8500 applicants?

@stressedsenior99 175-200 finalists

Thanks!! Out of the finalists do you know how many get scholarships??? @MA2012

Im so scared, I give up. There is no way Im a Emory Scholar finalist

How does ti work if I applied both to Emory College and Oxford College, before Nov 15th for either scholar program? Can I be selected for both? Or if selected, I will be told which one? I have no idea how that works…

If selected, you will be told which one.
