Does Emory scholar recommendation require separate teacher recommendations than the normal common app recommendations?
I already have two teachers doing my common app recommendations - am I supposed to ask a different teacher to write a letter of rec for me specifically for Emory Scholars? Or can I use the same letter of rec for both common app and Emory Scholar?
Because honestly, I don't even know who to ask if I had to ask a third person...

I have the same question!

wow okay I don’t feel so bad about being confused now! I’m totally lost. bump?

Same recommendations (my son is a sophomore Emory Scholar - Alexander Means scholarship - full tuition).

thanks emorydeac - does that mean i have to have teachers give me two copies of their rec? (common app copy + emory scholar copy)??

I’m wondering this as well.

No. You only need one copy of teacher recommendations. Your common aplication materials (and essay), as well as your Emory Scholar essay will be utilized during the scholar selection and interview process. Good luck!

Just to clarify, we send the one through Common App online and we do not have to get the rec reprinted and sent by mail?

^emorydeac. Is this correct?

holy crap emorydeac, your son got FULL TUITION!!! crazy

ill be happy just to be in the program and win only few hundreds for scholarship!!!

Anonymous, that is correct. Just to help people understand the Emory Scholar finalist stats, all scholars with a full tuition or full ride scholarship (whom my son knew their scores) scored ACT of 35 or greater and SAT 1550 or greater. All had compelling stories and/or accomplishments in their careers on top of 4.0 unweighted GPA’s while taking the most challenging academic curriculum offered by their high school. Most, if not all, had acceptances to HPYS and Emory utilizes the money to attract these types of students. The only requirement for continuation of your scholarship is to maintain a 3.5 or higher. These are the students Emory expects to be their leaders and Emory provides them with many opportunities to socialize with professors in educational settings such as Art exhibits/plays etc. as well as priority class selection (which allows one to take the classes, professors, and times one wants) It is truly a wonderful opportunity. With that being said, my son has several equally as bright and talented friends who are not scholars, and they find Emory provides them with many equally exciting opportunities. Hope this helps and good luck.
