I’m dissapointed but I’m not overwhelmed by this. Just something I will have to come to terms with and accept. Thanks for your consoling words.

FYI–My DD Goizueta Scholar Letter was in the View Communications section and not under the View Decision. If you don’t have a “new” communication it may be that they did not post your letter and I would consider calling Emory to inquire.

yay! i apparently didn’t make it to finalist for goizueta but i still got admission into emory and automatic acceptance into the business school junior year =)

I received a letter saying that I did not make it as a Goizueta Finalist, but that I did get admission into Emory and guaranteed acceptance into the business school. I also applied for Emory Scholars, but this letter doesn’t mention that at all. This is the only communication that I have received about scholarships. Does that mean that I was also rejected as a semifinalist for Emory Scholars? Or is there another letter coming?

Can anyone clear this up for me? I got a message on opus last night saying I was not selected as a Goizueta semi-finalist and that I would be considered for RD. Under admissions decisions I only have info from oxford since I’m an oxford scholar finalist. Did the people who are receiving “letters” saying they didn’t get finalist, but are admitted to Emory, get a semi-finalist notification on opus yesterday and today they are receiving a letter in the mail? Is it showing up for you guys on opus?

I have no clue why goduke had that happen to him. It seems really weird. I have yet to receive any snail mail, but I assumed Emory wasn’t sending these decisions by snail mail?

My D got this. What does this mean? Rejected as finalist? While your candidacy has not moved to the finalist stage for the Goizueta Scholars Program,…

@fuhblah, goduke, & chinesemom

I think this means that you will not be considered for the finalist round and that you will not receive the scholarship but it does mean that you were accepted as a semifinalist and your acceptance as a semifinalist comes with acceptance to the school & acceptance to the business school. To be honest this is kind of unprecedented so I’m not sure if what I am saying is even accurate, but its my best guess.

Anybody know when the Emory Scholar finalists will be notified?

I think in past years, it’s been around the 20th - 25th. My guess is next Friday.

drose, xalex, ebbetwd, and anyone else who was declined for these awards, I’m here to tell you that your rejection is not a harbinger of what’s to come. My son was rejected as an Emory Scholar last year in the first go-around and very disappointed. But, by April 1, he was accepted to 13 of his 15 schools, including all his top choices, Brown, UPenn, UChicago and WashU, as well as Emory. This process is a tough one – hang in there, it’s almost over. And now, a year later, I don’t think my S gives this stuff another thought. Next year at this time, you’ll be fully ensconced in your second semester of college…thinking about your midterms and writing papers. This moment will seem like eons ago.

So I’ve emailed emory twice in the last two weeks about finding out when emory scholars finalists would be announced. Since I didn’t get a response I assume that they’ll be coming out shortly! Good luck everyone!

Just got an email from emory. I’m a liberal arts scholar. Don’t know whether to be happy or not…

I’m an EMORY SCHOLARS FINALIST!!! GAHHHHHH =D

i don’t understand. my son got an email saying he was a liberal arts scholar. He called emory and was told this was different and separate from emory scholar finalist and that those decisions would be mail in the next two weeks. They said receiving the liberal arts scholarship does not take him out of the running to be named a finalist and he would be notified of that decision in the next two weeks. How do you know already?

don’t understand how you know already. my son called today and was told finalists would be notified in about two weeks. he called because he too received email saying he recieved a liberal arts scholarship. emory confirmed that this is a different and separate scholarship and he is not out of the running to be named a finalist. so i’m wondering how you already know about being named a finalists…anyone else??

I got an email informing me of the decision.

congratulations; i guess my son was misinformed. since he got the other scholarship, i am assuming now that he’s NOT in the running to become a finalist; too bad.

I got the liberal arts scholarship email as well. I’m probably also out of the running for finalist as well now. Oh well.
