<p>I'm in kind of a strange situation: I approached my counselor (whom I don't know very well) around mid-August about Emory Scholars and due to my earnest interest in Emory she is planning to nominate me for the program. However, of the four that she is planning to nominate, I am definitely the least qualified and I am not expecting to go far with the nomination at all. Even before this, however, I had planned to apply Early Decision to Emory and I saw that it was possible to apply both ED and Emory Scholars. My question is: by applying ED1 and Emory Scholars, will I be a part of the ED applicant pool as opposed to the Emory Scholar applicant pool, or both? And if I am a part of the ED pool, will it give me an advantage to apply Emory Scholars as well?</p>

<p>You will be in both pools. I think the two processes are fairly separate. If you are admitted ED1 you will still be eligible for Emory Scholars. If you are deferred ED1 you will still be eligible for Emory Scholars, although it would be surprising if you got it, but it is technically possible. You might think that they would have little incentive to offer ED applicants merit aid, but I know for a fact that it happens, so good luck!</p>
<p>I have a related, but different question: does Emory allow people applying for the Emory scholars program (but not ED) to apply to EA at other schools?</p>
<p>Yes because there is no guarantee you will be a scholar. If you apply somewhere EA then you should withdraw your app.</p>
<p>Um, what exactly do you mean? Are you saying that if I were chosen as a scholar I’d have to withdraw my app to other schools?</p>
<p>VandyPrayer, I don’t get exactly what you mean. So are you saying that Emory does allow scholar applicants to apply to other places EA, but makes them withdraw those apps if they’re chosen as scholars?</p>

<p>Emory allows you to apply to other schools EA if you apply to Emory Scholars since there is no guarantee that you will become an Emory Scholar. Yes, you can apply EA to other schools. I was thinking ED instead of EAA.</p>
