<p>Some girl from my grade got into Harvard but didnt make the Emory Scholars first cut. Interesting.</p>
<p>I guess that Harvard and Emory are looking for slightly different attributes. It is quite the conundrum, though, that she didn't at least make this preliminary cut. Is there anything you can think of that would have kept her out? SAT below 1500? GPA on the low side?</p>

<p>try to make sure you add on to the most recent list; otherwise we lose updates other people have made (like the addition of dhm's d) congrats to everyone who's made it so far - it looks like the next cut is going to be really competitive! for everyone who didn't make it, keep your hopes up because you are all very strong students. Like pbar and GGGUnit's Harvard friend show, the whole process can be a bit random.</p>

<p>im guessing mine was the essay... i dont have THAT stellar stats (3.9 uw, 4.0/4.0w)... theatre and leadership... i was actually surprised i got it. my essay was 'moving' as i have been told, so that might have been it?</p>
