Emory Scholars notification...

mpcarey
i’m still waiting, i haven’t heard anything either, do you think their office will be closed tommorow, I want to call and ask about my notification

Alamo1836. Thanks for responding.
According to their website:

MLK Holiday - University Closed
Jan. 18, 2010

So may have to wait until Tuesday.

@Ansley: I was accepted as a Goizueta Scholars Finalist yesterday, but i didn’t check my email until today.

Does anyone know how many were accepted for goizueta?

my stats:
1490/2260; 10 APs by the end of senior year; national merit semi finalist.
nothing else substantial except i co-founded a local charity.

honestly surprised to have made it, since i didn’t reach a 1500 SAT.
congrats to everyone :)

and momsie i had the same question…do semifinalists automatically get money or is that only for a select few??

Only 200 out of 350 recieve money

I got Goizueta Scholars finalist as well! It said that I was admitted into the school and that I was a finalist. However, the notification was not clear in the part about interviews. When do I find out more information about this? Am I among the top 50 that received this finalist status?

^^I think they send us some stuff in the mail or maybe even call us, but i’m trying to learn more about it too. I heard actually that we are among the top 10, but i could be wrong.

:giggle: I was accepted ED, so they got me no matter how much money they offered.

Needless to say ~ rejected with a 2170…

Hey, it was worth a shot! X) See you next year!

Anyone have any idea when we hear about making Emory Scholar finalists?

No luck here. Rejection.

I think part of my problem was that I didn’t send in my updated SAT scores soon enough to be considered. At first I had a 2100, and then I raised it to a 2240, so that could have helped. Otherwise, I’m not sure what else I did wrong. I had figured that I had a chance for semifinalist, even if I were a longshot for finalist. All things considered, though, I’m not too worried about the whole ordeal!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I shouldn’t anticipate that this will necessarily represent the decisions of top-10 schools that I have applied to, right? Sure, the acceptance rate to Emory Scholars semifinalist was 14% (350/2500), but the candidates were nominated, and not necessarily clear misfits who applied to, say, Harvard, on a whim…

My son got rejected and I was depressed. Now I am okay with it. It is a myth and I can’t understand. So I let it go and wait for next one. I don’t believe he will come here.

I have watched this thread so long and hard to let it go.

Good luck for all get accepted.

I was wondering if anyone is waiting for the Oxford Scholars notifications. They told me that they were mailed on the 15th but with the holiday monday it may take longer to receive them. Someone at Oxford also said that you will receive a notification if you make it or not. If anyone has received theirs in the mail please post!

I haven’t received anything yet stefanhelton. I guess we just have to keep an eye on the mailbox. I wish they would just send emails though…they’re so old fashioned.

I haven’t heard from Oxford yet either…and i live just down the road from them, so i don’t know… waiting waiting waiting!!

There is no way they mailed something on the 15th and someone down the road hasn’t gotten it yet…I emailed them and the email I got from them said “mailed on the
15th” …I think somebody forgot to put postage on them…Maybe tomorrow!

If “top-10” means Ivies etc., missing on Emory Scholars isn’t a good sign. The elite colleges reject more people than they accept with SAT’s in the 2240 region. What does the rest of the package look like – GPA, essays, EC’s, etc.? You need something that distinguishes you from the crowd to make it into any of the top schools.

Anyone have any idea when we hear about making Emory Scholar finalists?

bump

Last year my son learned he was a finalist on 2/19/09 via learnlink.

Hi emorydeac,
thanks for the info … Do you know the stats for last year finalists cutoff ? My daughter just got in to 1st level Semifinalist list. thanks!

What does “1st Level Emory Scholar Semifinalist” mean? Is there a specific designation on our letters?
