Emory Scholars notification...

I think hurtnever’s just referring to the ‘first level’ of selection (as in 1st we need to be semifinalists, then we need to be finalists).

It’s just poor word choice.

or maybe its a reference to the 350 semifinalists, only 200 of whom will actually get the 12-14k scholarships? (and 50 of those 200 become finalists…)

SAME here. i haven’t heard anything. do you have any clue as to what this might mean?

Hey, I got a letter from the department I’m applying to for my major urging me to ask any questions and referring to me as a potential Woodruff scholar and saying they would really like me in their classes. did anyone else get letters from departments like this? I’m assuming we’re ALL potential woodruff scholars, but hoping it’s a good sign…

Last year’s finalists were notified beginning February 18th - so another 10 more days or so to go this year I guess …Good luck to all semi-finalists!

*sigh… more waiting. That’s all this college application process is, lots of submitting applications and lots of waiting.

Fingers crossed right now. Anyone know what they actually do during the Finalists’ Interviews during March?

I am currently an Emory Scholar Semifinalist (don’t know about Finalist status yet). A peculiar thing happened the other day. I got an email from a teacher at Emory who told me that we could converse via email (or phone if I wanted to) about why Emory is a good place and match for me. DOES THIS MEAN ANYTHING?/DOES THIS HINT AT MY BEING A FINALIST?

I really have no idea. Can someone please answer this question?

Was the faculty that contacted you from your prospective major/college?

Emory doesn’t ask for major; however, the essay I wrote for the Scholarship was my love for science so it makes sense that biology teacher would contact me.

What do you think this means? Am I a Finalist possibly?

I have no idea.

Student10000, Your e-mail cannot be a bad sign.

I cannot speak to your question about whether or not you are a finalist. Good luck.

I got an e-mail like this a few weeks back. Have all of the semifinalists received these?

I have been wondering the same thing because if all Semifinalists have received an email, then it doesn’t mean much.

Yes, my son received one, too. I believe faculty were asked to contact semi-finalists.

We didn’t receive email. In my guess … my daughter didn’t make it to finalist. I may be wrong but …When are we supposed to receive the finalist list(200 out of 350) confirmation?

Is learnlink the same thing as opus?
and does this mean we’re going to find out in the next few days? does anyone know when people found out the year before last year and earlier?

last year I believe they found out on Feb 18th. Not sure about the previous years.

Learnlink is the email server-esque thing. There’s a link to it in your OPUS. Here’s a link: https://www.learnlink.emory.edu/login/

aah. gotcha. Thanks Azn!
I really, really hope we find out tomorrow. The waiting is killing me.

when was the app for emory scholars due? 10/31/09?
