hey guys, just got this email from emory! they're releasing decisions via email tomorrow!

Greetings from Emory and the Office of Admission!

Thank you for your interest in the University and our academic scholarship process. The Emory Scholar and Goizueta Scholar selection committees are finalizing the semifinalists selections, and you will learn tomorrow, January 16, whether or not you have advanced to the semifinalist round. The Office of Admission will send an email to this address with details about your status, and a paper copy of the decision will also be mailed to your home and/or preferred mailing address.

The volume and outstanding quality of the scholarship nominees slightly delayed our review process. Normally we would have released our decisions today. I regret we are making you wait an additional day, and I appreciate your patience. We have very much enjoyed reviewing your application, and we wish you the very best as you continue your senior year.

Yeah I'd love to know what time of day! It's going to be driving me nuts! But I'm doubting my ability to be a semifinalist anyway .. especially with the volume of applicants they talked about! I think I'll get into Emory regular, but not as a scholar.. Good luck to everyone!!!!

i didnt get an email... did everyone else receive an email notifying them that decisions would be out tomorrow? i am getting worried that something happened...

Update ... they're making us wait ALL DAY!

This is from the website ...

The Emory Scholar and Goizueta Scholar selection committees are finalizing the semifinalist selections for our program of merit-based scholarships. Emory Scholars information will be released on Friday, January 16, 2009 after 6:00pm EST.

The Office of Admission will send an email with details about your status, and a paper copy of the decision will also be mailed to your home and/or preferred mailing address via the U.S. Postal Service.

More than 2,500 students were nominated for the scholarships, and only 350 students will be named semifinalists. Of these semifinalists, approximately 70 finalists will be selected and invited to the campus for interviews March 18-21, 2009. Attendance for the full four days of Scholar Finalist Weekend is required of finalists who wish to remain in competition for a full tuition Emory scholarship. An additional group of approximately 100 semifinalists will be selected for the John Emory Scholarships of 2/3 tuition. All semifinalists will be notified of their status by late February.

Alright, well, 6:00 is late, but at least we (or rather I) don't have to be paranoid all day. Plus, it'll be after school ends, so I can find out at home without everyone seeing my reaction...for better or for worse :-)

rpo722 check your spam folder, that's where mine ended up.

So are they going to send us an email saying whether we got it or not, or should we just check OPUS?
I have a feeling OPUS would crash, just to keep me waiting longer haha

God... did anyone not see how dumb that email was? It was so pointless! I saw it and was like OMG Emory Scholar email.... then opened it to see that it was going to be tomorrow.... why didn't they just send the one tomorrow? Soooooo pointless >.>

Does anyone know if you aren't selected for Emory Scholars, do they still notify you whether or not you have been accepted to Emory? I mean if you're a semi- you are obviously in, but either way I don't feel like waiting until April! AHH!
