quick question: if you apply ED1 to emory and also apply to the scholars program... what if you get rejected from the scholars program?? is it possible to get accepted ED1 but not accepted as a semi-finalist in the scholars program? or are you automatically deferred to RD or rejected totally?? thanks

eaglehopeful,

Yes... you can apply ED1 to Emory ... AND... also be nominated and apply to the Emory Scholars Program.

This said, if you are dependent on a merit scholarship in order to attend Emory, I would suggest you NOT apply ED1 (whether it be Emory or any other school), because admission by ED1 or ED2 represents a "binding" committment to attend.

The deadlines for both the Admission application and the ESP application are the same -- around Nov. 1 -- so if you choose this route, then you will need to be organized about both applications, as well as having lined up your recommendations.

The decision for ED1 is on Dec. 15, so you will know your decision for Admission sooner than you will know the semi-finalist decision for ESP. The decision for semi-finalist status will come around late January.

If you are accepted for admission to Emory via the ED1 plan, you are admitted via a binding decision, meaning you are obligated to attend Emory and will be asked to send in a signed enrollment card (also to be signed by your high school counselor) as well as to send in an enrollment deposit and immediately withdraw any other admission applications. Because of this, be certain that if you apply ED to Emory (or any other school), that you have done your research, visited the campus, and absolutely KNOW that it is the school for you. Applying ED does not preclude receiving other "need-based" financial aid which can ease the cost of attendance.

do u mind if i PM u?? u seem very helpful and thank you for your help already
