Wait, I got an email that said in order to be considered for Emory Scholars you needed to submit your application by Nov. 15?? Or is that just “priority” consideration…Can you apply RD and still be considered for Scholars??

It had to be by Nov. 15 even if you’re RD

So just to make everything sure for everyone: emory Rd application for those who want to be considered for scholars has to be by Nov 15 but fin aid isn’t due till ur particular decision plans deadline whether it is one of the EDs or RD

Hi curious if anyone knows how heavily the GPA is considered when evaluating an application for Emory Scholars. My daughter has an SAT score of 2240 but a 3.7 GPA. I wonder if the GPA will hurt her…

Perhaps. Lots of the Emory scholar candidates have 3.9-4.0 and similar SATs (maybe the same or slightly higher. The mean maybe in excess of 2250) I think. Just view some of the Scholars as your “Harvard like” students. As in, stats. wise (they are generally the 75% of admitted students in terms of GPA and SAT/ACT). You never know though.

Anyone know what the exact date for scholars notification is? ~January 20s? Emory is my top choice, but the cost is a problem.

@megan702
I don’t think any dates, etc is posted or announced as of this moment, but it seems as of years past that they don’t do any previously announced dates. Its still early January. I would probably expect some kind of word to be heard around Mid-Late January.

@everyone else
Wow…50 out of 2000 is less than 3 percent and when you account for the additional increases in application, I would not surprised if it dips below 2! When someone mentioned that some of these Scholars are your “harvard-like” students, they were practically hundred percent correct.

oh well, I hope that Emory gives good fin aid if I happen to get in to the school itself and not the scholars program cause there is no chance for that.

Current Scholar, freshman - I’m happy to answer any questions you have

@Goldberry
Do you remember exactly when you received notification of your status? And how?

Btw, Congrats!!

on the website it says results come on the 29th!

@Greentea96

Does it really?? Where did you see that? Because on Emory’s official website it just says late January (at least as far as I can tell).

where does it say that? I couldn’t find it either

If you go the the main admissions page ([Office of Undergraduate Admission >> Emory University](http://apply.emory.edu/)), to the right under “calendar,” it lists the Scholars Program Notification as Jan 29th. But they haven’t sent out emails, and on the blog they said that they would email about a week before they released decisions. So I’m not sure what’s happening.

oh my gosh I’m soo nervous…did anyone get an e-mail about it? Like I never got an e-mail confirming I applied to Emory Scholars…

I think Emory released decisions towards the end of the month last year, so I guess we will have to just wait and see. I didn’t receive an email either, so I guess Emory is behind a bit on their schedule.

This is what happens when you ask students to self-nominante. You get more applicants for a program usually only getting but so many and you get behind. No surprise.

Hey everyone! Emory just announced that they will make notifications available through OPUS on Wednesday January 29th, 6 PM ET.
http://blog.emoryadmission.com/blog/2014/01/28/emory-university-scholars-program-notification-release-update/

They also sent that out as an email this morning:

Dear [DarkUCF],

Emory University Scholars Program notifications will be available online through your OPUS Student Center at 6:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, January 29. Please note, notifications will not be sent via postal mail or email and cannot be released over the phone. The decision letters are only viewable online through OPUS.

Checking Your Notification Online
To check your Scholars notification online, login to your OPUS account after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29. Locate the Communications section on the right-side menu of your Student Center. When your notification is available you will find a red link for Unread Communications. Notification letters for the Emory University Scholars Program will be posted there.

If you have not yet registered for an OPUS user name and password, you will need to do so in order to check your notification online. You can set up your OPUS account here: Web Login Service. If you have any difficulty, please contact Emory’s IT Service Desk at OPUSHELP@listserv.cc.emory.edu for information on how to proceed.

Understanding Your Scholars Notification
The notifications posted to your OPUS account will inform you whether you have been selected as a finalist for the Emory University Scholars Program. Early Decision II and Regular Decision applicants selected as a Scholars finalist will also receive an early notification of acceptance. Those students not selected as a Scholars finalist will not receive an admission decision, but will rather receive their admission notification based on their admission plan — by February 15 for Early Decision II applicants and by April 1 for Regular Decision applicants.

For those applicants selected as a Scholars finalist who applied to both Emory College and Oxford College, the notification will inform you whether you have been selected to move forward as a Scholar finalist for Emory College or Oxford College. Finalists can only move forward in the Scholars program for either the Emory College or Oxford College campus. Therefore, applicants to both Emory and Oxford will only receive an early notification of admission for the college that selected them as a Scholars finalist. The admission decision for the other college will be released when admission decision notifications are released (by February 15 for Early Decision II and by April 1 for Regular Decision). Unfortunately we are unable to grant requests for early notifications of admission decisions from the college for which one was not selected as a Scholars finalist.

Also, notice they say you can only “continue” in one. Yet earlier they said, and have said in earlier years, you could run simultaneously for both. This mess up anyone’s plans to increase their chances by applying to both Emory and Oxford?

Thanks for the heads up jkim27! If you go to the Emory Scholars Program page, they have also updated the dates. It is now showing the interview weekend dates!

DarkUCF, I did not get that email. I wonder if that is a bad sign.
