Emory Students

I have heard a lot of good things about Emory throughout my application process. However, I still have two nagging questions. First, is it true that Emory students have little school pride? I want to attend a university whose students are passionate about where they go. My second question may be related to the first: Are many of the students who attend Emory so-called "ivy-rejects." Is Emory just a backup for many of its applicants (this may explain Emory's relatively low yield rate)? Emory was one of the most selective schools I applied to and I would like to go to school with students who believe that attending that school is an honor and privilege. Thanks for your help!

Almost 40% of Emory students are admitted through the early decision program. I got into Emory regular decision. It may not have been my top choice, but I'm really excited about going.

The reason a lot of people think Emory has no school pride is because there's no football team to rally around. That being said, I feel Emory more than makes up for it in other areas, such as Dooley's Week and the Department/ongoing rivalry with WashU.
As far as Ivy League-rejects, I've found that equal amounts of Emory students didn't apply to ivies, applied but didn't get in (a lot just to see if they would get in and not so much out of desire to actually go), and got in but came to Emory anyway. :-)

see but when i visited WashU they made that "rivalry" out to be a huge joke on how Emory has such little school spirit that they made a department to send kids over to WashU and start a rivalry.

Of course WashU would say that...that's why there's a rivalry!

Everyone I've talked to agrees that Emory is the most similar school to Wash U.
