Emory Summer 2008 Transfer

Does anybody have the application status showing "complete" in OPUS? I sent my materials more than a month ago, but OPUS still says that they haven't got the transcripts and recommendations yet. Any input will be appreciated from people who applied for summer transfer admission to Emory College.

My D was a spring 08 transfer to Emory. Her OPUS STILL shows they haven't received the transcripts. I'm going to assume they received them since they gave her credit for her classes in fall '08.

I applied about five weeks ago -- No docs processed yet.

Fall 2008 though.

i applied for fall 08 and on opus they have just requested my current semester grades.. does this mean i will not be complete until mid-may?

sebia, i applied for summer transfer and submitted my app, test scores, recommendations about 2 months. last week i called them and they said that they couldn't make a decision until they had my current semester grades, and that i could put together a document signed by my professors stating my current grade in the class and what they predict my grade would be at the end of the semester. i sent it in the next day and got a decision before the week was over.

hope this helps and hope to see you at emory in the summer!

scarolina22, did your OPUS To do List show that your app was complete? and How did you find out about the decision? thru OPUS or mail? I'm getting worried b/c my app is not complete yet even though i sent all the materials first week of March.

Congratulations, scarolina22!

I was going to apply to Emory Goizueta but I didn't coz...is it ture that they require you to come to Atlanta for interview?

sebia, no opus still shows that i need to send in my current semester grades which makes sense because i haven't sent them yet. as far as the decision goes, the admissions office said that they don't release them online, and i actually got my letter after a link on opus showed up asking me to pay the admissions deposit. give them a call and ask to be speak to an actual admissions counselor instead of those ladies that answer the phone with the heavy southern accents, because they told me that they hadn't processed my application even after i got my letter.

thanks so much thatmom!! your advice really helped me in this process a lot!!

I was wondering if anyone who applied to Goizueta Business School at Emory has been admitted.

There are few things that confused me about the admission process.

The website shows that an interview is REQUIRED for a transfer student at the business school. I am currently overseas, so I called and asked if they conduct phone interviews. The representative said that an interview is only for "border-line" applicants. I will receive an email if I have been chosen for an interview.

The instructions show that a student can apply to both summer and fall semesters, but when I called to check the status of my application, a representative said that they do not admit any student for the summer, and I will be considered for the fall semester.

The instructions show that the decision will be made within 4 to 6 weeks, but when I emailed to check the status after 2 months, the reply shows that I will hear my decision by June 2nd, which is months from the date I applied.

I would not judge the university based on its administration. I still think Emory is a great place to study, but admission process to the business school sure is confusing. Maybe I am just flat-out rejected and will receive my rejection letter on June 2nd.

femina did not even apply because the instruction shows that they require an interview. I do not think I am alone here.

I applied as a summer transfer and i checked my opus today and there is a new link saying i can pay my deposit but i havent been accepted or rejected yet! does this mean i got accepted? anythoughts thanks

It's a good sign. Congratulations!

CSK87, can i ask you when your app became complete at OPUS?

pvtcho,

My son got the same message about decisions form Goizueta being released on June 2nd. We're as confused as you--since like it said on the website--decisions were to be released in 4 to 6 weeks after the application was sent in.

All I can figure is maybe they want to give preference to Emory students who made a mistake on when the business school application was due and will be applying by June 1st (when regular transfer applications are due to all the schools at Emory) rather than applying by March 1st as was actually required by the business school).

I will say that delaying the decisions the way they have has created havoc relative to my son's housing situation. Since he couldn't renew his yearly lease (all the rental places in the current college town he's in require a yearly lease), he's now forced to move to a new place even if Emory rejects him.

Part of the reason we thought applying to Emory would be a good thing was not only the great things about the school and the program, but also that he would get a decision in time to handle the housing thing. Now he's forced to look for new housing no matter which school he attends next year. What a mess!?!?!

Unlike Emory college or Oxford I don't think we (Goizueta transfer applicants) can utilize OPUS to check the status of our applications. I think we are considered in a seperate pool. All we can do is wait for that email to tell us whether we are accepted or rejected.

Since Emory/Oxford students (other than exceptional kids who enrolled right after highschool) have to apply during their sophomore year to enroll at Goizueta, I think it is understandable to consider the transfer students late. However, the official website showed some faulty instructions. The website clearly shows that they accept transfer students for the summer while they do not. If I knew this, it would have made a significant difference invmy decision to apply.

Well Calcruzer,
I am sorry about your son's situation. I am not sure if a transfer student to Goizueta as a junior is guaranteed housing. I hope it works out for you Calcruzer.

Although we had some inconveniences, the university is well-known for accomodating for the students' needs, so I guess I will just keep a positive attitude.

wat is opus?i sent my paper application to Goizueta in Feb, and have heard nothing since then

pvtcho, u r rite, it is confusin, i m still waitin for the interview.....not sure if there will be one...

around april 21 i checked opus and it said i was missing everything! so i called everybody and had it all taken care of within 24 hours so it was complete after that.

but on another note

I WAS ACCEPTED THIS MORNING!!!!

i'm so excited! good luck to everyone!

Well I am glad that I am the only one lost in Goizueta admission process.
I called yesterday and asked about what is really going on, and the representative said that the admission decision will not be announced until June 2nd. Apparently there is no one who applied as a summer transfer to Goizueta has been accepted or denied. So let's not worry.

I do not think there will be an interview. The fact that the decision will be released on the very possible day(June 2nd, the deadline) shows that the shool's admission is having issues.

I hope to see you all there this fall.

pvtcho, do u have a OPUS account? the decision's gonna be sent by mail or email?
