I am trying to transfer to Columbia, Chicago, Yale, and Rice. I am a freshmen at Emory and I have a gpa of 3.7 after my first semester with 18 credits. My highschool grade was uw 94 and w 91 from a competive private school. My sat was 1500. I work 10 hours a week in the emory microbiology lab, and volunteer at the hospital. So, what are my chances at those schools? Thank You

Very strong chances if you have decent EC's. What was holding you back from those schools out of hs though, because maybe that will still be a problem.

are you unhappy at emory or do you just want a better name?

sorry, but i approached your post as an I've-was-rejected-from-higher-schools-and-I-had-to-settle-for-Emory-and-now-I-want-out.

why do i see so many posts w. Emory to IVY?

i don't really care about the prestiage of the schools that i am applying to. After my first semester at Emory, I realize that i did not make the best choice in choosing a school. Emory doesn't really fit me. I feel like the school is too competive, and i want to go to a place where i can learn things that i like without trying to compete for the best grade. also, there's a lot of drinking going on at Emory, and I want a school where people do things other than drink.

no offense, i got into emory last year and i know kids that go there (one of my best friends), he said it is a COMPLETE JOKE. These other places u are listing, i also got into Chicago and Rice are really rigorous places and the students are a notch up on the Emory kids. I wouldn't leave the warm sunny atlanta skies for Chicago if this is ur concern.

Yeah classes at emory are really easy, and i don't feel challenged enough. So, what about my chances?

How can a class be really really easy yet to competitive?
