Emory Transfer for Fall 2011

Congrats everyone who has made it in!

I haven’t heard back but I can log in to learn link as of a few days ago. Hopefully that’s a good sign.

To those who were accepted, did you receive transfer credit evaluations and financial aid statements yet?

I got my credit evaluation about a few days ago, one via email and one in a packet through snail mail. No aid info yet thought, because my parents’ filed their taxes late and I just submitted their return to Emory.

Got my transfer evaluation like yesterday. I’m a few credits shy of being a Junior… Yeah, totally okay with that. I get guaranteed housing as a sophomore :)

My financial aid stuff is still being processed, unfortunately.

@museumgerm: CONGRATS! for getting into Emory! You give me so much hope now…I had a terrible HS record and I’m aiming for a spectacular college record.Emory is one of my dream schools…so thanks for giving me some hope!

I think I’ll pm you/or you pm me…what tips do you have to make your application stand out +stronger? what about your essays could you elaborate a little more? how did you explain how much you’ve changed/improved since HS?

Hey, I hope to be ale to transfer to Emory next Fall as well, if anyone has any sort of advice let me know.
What do you think my chances are like:
HS GPA: 3.79
College: 4.0
SAT: 2150
ECs: Pres and Founder of French Club, Vice Pres of Debate Club, Founder of 2 Non-profits, Humane Society, Pet Fostering, Tennis, and various internships and volunteer jobs at museums and libraries

I checked learnlink and I’m in the database as a student of Emory College… can I celebrate yet? Still haven’t heard back. Maybe it’s referring to my oxford admission.

Nevermind, checked OPUS after a nap and I’ll be at Emory in the Fall! Hope to see you all there :-D

accepted! ay

Hey guys! I will be a junior transfer to Emory for fall 2011. I am very excited. Has anyone been assigned an advisor yet?

No advisor officially assigned, but I have talked to someone and I have already registered for classes. Where is everyone living?

congrats you guys!!! i’m a current student, future sophomore and i had to post to tell you that the kitchen and living room availability in clifon towers is awesome!! bugs just depend on how you take care of your dorm room as none of the upperclassmen dorms are new. i think my dorm will be kind of quiet as there arent many residents but i assure you woodruff does have a community feel and complex will also. clifton and woodruff are next to each other on one side of campus whereas alabama and complex are right on main campus so they are more accessible. to me, the amenities of clairmont and clifton are more important to me than location so it just depends on the person. FIRST floor of clifton Is not apartment style(no bathroom kitchen living rm) and is reportedly very untidy, as a warning. feel free to email (LearnLink) me if you want to ask anything! id love to show you guys around when school starts up too  ttphan2@emory.edu

HeatFanNY- I will be living off campus, but I am still looking around at different apartments near Emory. Have you already figured out your living situation?

Yeah I am living in Clairmont Campus in an apartment on the second floor I believe because I will be a sophomore. I wanted to live on the main campus though…

What the heck happened to sticking transfers in Woodruff? That’s a nice option on main campus. Lots of transfers were there when I was in it.

Hi Everyone,
I’m Natalie and I was accepted to transfer to Emory this Fall (2011), but I’ve deferred my Admission to this Spring of 2012. I am from Maryland but I attended a small (and horrible) Women’s college not even 3 miles from Emory called Agnes Scott College. Before that, I attended my local community college. I think I’m definitely on par with the average Emory student. 4.0 GPA, skipped my junior year of high school, infinite extracurriculars, etc. But I do it all because I enjoy it  Not because I’m preoccupied with impressing anyone. I love school and I want to be at a great college.

I’m still waiting on my Financial Aid (basically the most crucial part of the process for me), but I’d love to hear about current Emory transfer students’ experiences thus far. I’m considering majoring in Business Communications at Goizueta with a minor in Global Health OR a co-major in Journalism.

On another note–did any of you accepted transfer students happen to drop a class after being accepted to Emory? I have a class that I am considering dropping because it’s poor quality and it’s eating up my time to go to work. I don’t even think it will transfer to Emory, so I’m disinclined to keep it. HOWEVER, as many of you know, your admission to Emory is contingent upon completing your “current” term schedule. Anyone have any advice or experience with this??

Thank you all so much and I hope I can meet you when I (hopefully) arrive at Emory this Spring

-Natalie
