Emory U vs. Washinton U @ St. Louis

The original poster in this thread never even mentioned interest in investment banking. How and why did the discussion go there? Not every kid wants this for a career.

Also, for WashU, applicants apply directly to the business school and begin freshman year. For Emory, all students are admitted to Emory College and apply to Goizueta Business school for enrollment either in their spring term of sophomore year or fall term of junior year. Since GBS admits over 80% of applicants, overall it might be easier to gain admission. You would still take pre-business required courses at GBS such as financial accounting, statistics, calculus, writing, etc.

Getting away from the B school aspect for a minute–you should really try to visit the schools and meet your potential teammates. My child is a track athlete at one of the schools you mentioned. It helps to be able to talk to other athletes, see if you fit in with the team (for track you will spend 2, if not 3 seasons on your sport depending on your event), find about the sports/academic/life balance, etc. If you can’t visit the schools, maybe the coach will allow you to contact some of the athletes to ask questions. You will be spending a lot of time with your teammates, so you should try to find out where you are comfortable.
