Emory University Class of 2021 Early Decision II

idk why but this thread is very quiet lol

never been so hyped for a rejection lol

took the L… rejected

ACCEPTED!!!

Waitlisted

ACCEPTED!!!
It’s a little odd that I didn’t get into Oxford, but still!

This meant a lot to me because I had to move during my transitions into both middle school and high school ( post freshman year); not to mention switching elementary schools 3 times. It was rough because ‘‘playing the stranger’’ made it harder to get involved in activities since I didn’t feel like part of the community and transferring credits from an OOS highschool made me lose the ‘‘weighted status’’ of some of my freshman classes (freshman year was at a more competitive school). So it feels great that I got my school of choice for college; I was finally able to make my own choice on where I want to go and I got it!
This really made me a happier person altogether.

Sorry if it seems like I’m bragging, I’m really not trying to. I just had a few setbacks that I thought held me back from looking as good as I could’ve been for Emory. I really hope everyone who has been rejected or waitlisted will get good news from schools they’re still excited about.

Hey guys I still haven’t gotten anything yet T_T

congrats to those who got accepted, and i wish the best of luck to those who were not accepted  everything will turn out okay in the end, i promise!!
just a question about emory applicants who are NOT scholars - when will we be finding out what merit-based scholarships we have received, if any? thank you!!

Rejected with 34 ACT and 3.75 GPA lol

Accepted to Oxford College! So excited!

@anika839 I didn’t really try for any merit-based aid, but I would guess that it comes with the rest of the aid package. I don’t expect to get any scholarships/merit based help so I can’t really say.

Rejected :frowning:

ACCEPTED TO BOTH!!! So excited!

@Callmejoe3 Congrats on the Emory College of Arts and Sciences! I don’t think its that odd you didn’t get into Apparently Oxford’s applicant pool is insanely larger and more competitive this year and may be more competitive than the Atlanta campus this year.

also have a question about anyone doing sports at emory - should i tell the coach (xc and track) that i got accepted? is there any running gear that he is supposed to send over…? sorry this is all completely new to me so im just finding all the info i can possibly get!! thank you

@mk0421

Well I guess that explains it. This year’s applicant pool is really interesting!

@mk0421 : I do not think that is it (it may be more competitive, but I can’t say more so than main. The two matriculating student bodies have been somewhat similar score wise for like 2-3 years now though), but I will say that Oxford likely became more “discriminatory”. They are more keen on fit and whether or not their curriculum can serve the interest of the applicant. Like, with Callmejoe3, if he expressed interest in both chemistry and biology and pre-health, the main campus will serve this applicant much better because of easier access to upper division courses. Coming from Oxford and completing both can be a hassle especially given the changes to the chem major that were approved. I think both adcoms like to pay attention to these details which I think is a good thing.

I am also wondering if there are any merit based scholarships for non-Scholar Finalists that will be coming out? If so, is there a general time frame in which they will come out?
