I applied to Emory University ED a week ago and tey got my application. They emailed me saying they want to interview me when they are in the area (I live in California). The interview is optional. Do they ask all their applicants this?

Anyway, I don't really want to go to the interview (too much stuff right now), but am not sure whether I should or not. I do know that Emory likes to see interest in their applicants. Does anyone know much about Emory interviews, whether they help or hurt, and whether I should go or not?

you absolutely have to do the interview. Unless you completely offend the interviewer, it should be fine. Even if you and the interviewer just end up having a quick, average conversation, it gives them a chance to know you and will most likely give you an edge in the application process.

well if you don't want to go to Emory, don't do it.
But if you want to attend Emory, you ABSOLUTELY have to. If you DO happen to get rejected (knock on wood for you*), you'll always wonder if doing that interview could have gotten you in.

yeah, I agree. Well, I applied ED so obviously I want to attend Emory. You're right about the interview though. I think I will go for it. Anyway, the interviewer will be an alumnus so that's less intimidating.

No problem, just be yourself, an interview doesn't have to be spectacular so don't pressure yourself. Be kind, courteous, and respectful, and GOOD LUCK!

Thank you. By the way, do you know if this is normal for Emory? I mean, do they normally recommend interviews? Everywhere I've seen, people said Emory doesn't interview.
