I’ll be a first-year at Emory in the fall, and I’m looking for some guidance on choosing a language. As part of the general education requirements, every Emory student has to take 2 language courses. However, I’m already bilingual and have no interest in mastering another language. Honestly, I’ll only be taking a language because it’s required and I’m looking for a class that’s easier to breeze through. Can anyone recommend the easiest language classes/professors at Emory?
If you’ve taken a language in high school, starting over in the 100 level of that course would probably be easiest. Some languages(like Spanish) require taking a placement test. Italian’s supposed to be fairly easy, and Spanish is another popular choice.
Since you’re bilingual and if Emory offers your language, you can take that, but it would probably be at a higher level(around 300). Another recommendation would be taking a language with similar grammar. If you’re a nursing or business major, the GERs are different, and you’re not required to take a language.
I know this thread is old, but maybe someone will see this and can answer me:
about the HAP (humanities, arts, performance) gen ed requirement, can additional semesters of language (HAL- beyond the 2 required) be used to satisfy the HAP requirement?
