@loveplants
At Emory the International Relations program is under the Political science department.
It has some great special programs like the BARD international program. Please look into it.
http://polisci.emory.edu/home/undergraduate/special_programs/index.html

Also the business school has several Joint degree programs.

What interests you about IR?

@loveplants
And for the chance part. I think you have a decent shot, especially if you apply as IR. Your GPA and Rank are great. The Spanish Club and the Senior Mentor, should help. What are the award that you received?

What will help the most is the legacy status, that might be able to overcome your low ACT score.
Overall I’ll say its a Low Reach/Reach.

Thanks! Yes I know my ACT score isn’t the best but I worked really hard and did want a higher score. I hope the other components of my application outweigh it.

Emory is a reach for S19…

College of Choice: Emory College

Any other interesting Info: ( Have a criminal record, Started a band, Dad is Tom Brady etc): Emory Pre-College for Dramatic Writing (QuestBridge Scholarship), Dooley Award, Low Income ($29k family of 6), School created an award for S19 - Academic Perfection (first time in 18 yr history a student had 4.0 GPA every semester from K-12, obviously a bit premature, hopefully he gets it), Self-taught guitar and leads worship at church weekly, highlighted on SportsCenter Top 10 (Social Media, not the TV show), conducted College Affordability Info Session at school to help educate peers about community programs that make college affordable (QuestBridge, CollegePoint, Matriculate, etc)

@loveplants
Great, but what interests you about international relations? What are your future goals.

@romns116
Well, I’m not too familiar with the quest-bridge process, but I’ve heard it’s a bit more holistic. I also think Filipino counts as URM but again I’m not sure.
The fact that he seems interested in creative writing helps a lot. The program received some great new professors as of recent. Also being VAL is probably most important to his application.
Again he’s applying to a non-competitive major (although Emory doesn’t necessarily admit by major it does take major interest into account.)

I would say High Match/Low Reach ( the ACT score could be better).

Thanks @emorynavy

The film dept faculty had been very helpful and welcoming. They mentioned facility renovation plans (Visual Arts bldg), along with new screenwriting faculty.

The renowned creative writing program is definitely a plus, along with the booming film/tv production industry in the ATL area.

S19 would also be interested in taking courses at SCAD via the ARCHE program, but heard there may be some red tape to get through.

@emorynavy I’m just interested I’ve been fortunate enough to travel a lot I am interested in how other countries work and what their cultures are like. My father is from India and that has played a role in my interests

Anyone know how construction is going on the CLC? Still scheduled for Summer 2019 opening?

@romns116
It looks to be on schedule or even ahead of it from my vantage point. I’m sure you saw it when you visited. Grand and beautiful. Oxford is getting one as well, should be done around the same time.

@BiffBrown
Do you know anything about CLC?

@emorynavy
S19 said he walked by the construction site but didn’t much of the bldg structure in August. I’ve yet to visit, and the construction blog hasn’t been updated since 2017. Glad to hear it may be ahead of schedule.

@emorynavy

I only know what I’ve witnessed and read.

You’ve seen the online animations, yes?

Hi, so I am actually a Questbridge student. I was a College Prep Scholar in the spring and have just applied to be a finalist in the NCM program.

College of Choice: Emory College

Any other interesting Info: Because I am low income, I will be applying through the Questbridge program. Emory is absolutely my top choice, and I would love to be a part of the class of 2023.

Thanks!!

@hopefully32
I think you have a great chance for Emory through QB. Your EC’s are really stand-out, and so is your class rigor, SAT score, and AP scores. If your Essays are good I think they can counterbalance your low(ish) GPA.
Question, If you don’t become a finalist can you apply to Emory ED or ED2?
Emory RD- Low Reach/Reach
QB- I have no idea what so ever but, no more than a low Reach.
