I was in a country that doesn’t have ap or honors class we just take regular classes and i took chem, phy and bio for 2 years each. and now i change school and i am taking APUSH and honors anatomy and physiology. I am junior now. I want to get admitted to Emory University and study pre medicine. If i work well in my ACT would the reason I don’t take ap classes affect me ? I will take 4 ap class for my senior year.
the university will know that your old school didn’t have APs. They get a school profile. They only evaluate you based on YOUR school environment. They won’t compare you to a kid whose school offers 15 APs. (you can also note that your old school didn’t offer APs in the Common Application’s “Additional Info” section but I really don’t think that’s necessary/don’t recommend that).
My son is a freshman at Emory and has friends who came from competitive prep schools that don’t even offer AP’s. If your school doesn’t offer them it’s not a big deal. Test scores are lower on Emory’s list of what they are looking for. First and foremost they want to see you do well in challenging classes. That’s what you need to focus on.
