Well, i have less than 24 hours to decide help! I am debating between amherst and emory. I really liked both of my visits but don't know where I should go. I applied to mostly northeast schools since I already live in the South, in fact 45 minutes away from Emory, which is too close. Obviously Amherst will be better for me academically as I will probably do political science and international affairs while Emory is known for its med program. I thought Emory was a better fit socially because more goes on and off campus than @ Amherst since its 2 hours from Boston instead of like 15 minutes away from ATL like Emory. I don't know if I should leave my comfort zone ( ATL) and go to a new and foreign place (Amherst). Should I choose a better social scene over academics. I want to go far in life, and Amherst has superbub alumni connections. Also the open cirriculum is fascinating. AHH!! Help please!

Wow, you sure have a lot of typos. Maybe you should try a community college first.

Comparing a liberal arts college to a research university shouldn’t be that hard.

In a small liberal arts college you are going to know all the students and your professors. It will be a bit like a large family gathering.

In a research university you are going to have an opportunity to do more things, try more things and meet a wider variety of people than at a small college.

I’m sure you have a preference for one type of institution over the other.

I agree that Amherst has good academics. However, I think you are selling Emory very short on that score.

The social scene at Amherst is influenced by the 5 college consortium. Two great choices - good luck!
