I know both are in Atlanta and both are great schools. Which one has the better:

1-Business Program
2-Engineering Program
3-Chance of employment/further education after graduation

emory by far has the better business program
tech has the better engineering department since emory doesn't have that major. If someone wants to do engineering at emory they are able to take classes at tech for a dual program.
For post employment/grad school it depends on what you are considering. tech is better for engineering and maybe math but i think that emory has it in every other area (sciences, humanities, liberal arts, etc). if you have a more specific area it would be easier to tell.

Yeah, I agree with amandi. But I also think that the two are just not comparable. Emory is a liberal arts and sciences-focused school, especially for UG. Tech is a univeristy that specializes in engineering, architecture, etc. If you're looking for liberal arts, sciences, nursing, or business for UG, then Emory is the place to go. If you want engineering or architecture, tech is the place to go. They're both great in their own rights. Also, I think Tech has some good science programs, but I don't think they're quite on par with Emory's.

Incidentally, you can take a certain number of classes at one university if you're enrolled at the other. I think it's up to 2 classes can count for credit. I've never actually heard of anyone doing it, but it's an option that I've heard about.

emory has one of the best business schools in the country, so its a no contest... doesnt have an engineering school tho, so g tech wins for that.

in terms of jobs, well it really depends on what you wanna do.

Neither is "better" than the other; both are outstanding schools for what they are:

If you want to be an engineer, go to Tech - can not be beat for math, engineering and technology.

If you want to major in business, go to Emory- one of the best business schools in the country.

If you want something that overlaps (perhaps in a biomedical engineering field) you might consider a duel degree from both (which I believe is available).

Engineering- Tech

Business- Both are respectable, but Emory is much better

Emory has an amazing medical center

Tech has more alum but Emory will get you a better job/into grad school

Other things you should look at:

GT was voted the #1 campus where you would be least likely to strike up a conversation with someone you have never met in the country. Also, the campus (especially around the edges) is kind of unsafe. But... on the other hand, they have D-1 sports, often ranked in the top 25 and it is walking distance from down town. You really only need a bike for transport.

Emory is a very liberal school. There are some decent parties and it is secluded from the hustle and bustle of downtown Atlanta and there is good food on campus.. On the other hand, the sports are D-3, and it is a much smaller school. Make sure to bring a car or else you wont be able to get anywhere (the nearest MARTA train station (Candler Park) is pretty far away, a 45 minute walk and the buses suck.) I would also recomend joining a frat or sorority.

Duel degree option is available. Called a 3-2 program. Takes five years but end up with two bachelors. Heard about it last week, while touring campus.
