Emory vs. Northwestern

Hey everybody. I am a senior in high school debating between Emory and NU as my Early Decision school.
Is it worth it?!
I’m so lost in this whole process.
Can anybody help me?

The overall admission rate at Emory is in the neighborhood of 25%. Emory is unique in that there are two separate colleges: Emory College and Oxford College. You can apply ED to either or both of those. Emory is the “elite” college but Oxford isn’t chop liver, and my understanding is that if you get into Oxford College, you still end up with an Emory University degree. At any rate, Emory’s ED admit rate will almost certainly be higher than 25%, but I was unable to find that info.

Northwestern’s regular admit rate is about 12% but their ED admit rate is 36%. Bear in mind that many athletes and legacies apply ED, but still, your chances will be markedly improved by applying ED instead of RD at Northwestern.

The #1 rule is this: only apply ED if you are 100% certain that you want that school more than any other app you are sending. If you sent an app to Harvard and somehow got in, but you were ED at Emory and were accepted – you would have to go to Emory. So make sure it is your top choice and that you can afford it, because you are stuck with that school and the aid package they send (you can appeal the aid, but there are no guarantees for success…).

And where did this get moved to?
