Emory vs. Tufts

Help help help. I know both of these schools will provide me with an incredible education, however now I need advice on some of my more "shallow" criteria for my college experience:

Can someone please comment on all of these criteria for each school:

-reputation (which is most impressive?)
-sports
-party scene
-attractiveness of student body
-beauty of campus

Please help! thank you!

rep- emory
sports- emory (but neither is much into them)
party- probably emory
attractiveness- probs Tufts
beauty- emory

Pretty much, Tufts is a bunch of weird hippie nerds and Emory is pre-professional and career minded.

That seems right …

Hilarious!

Reputation: Depends on which program you’re going into. Emory is known for its medical and business. Tufts for its international relations (but that’s only because I applied for its international relations school).
Sports: Both DGAF
Party scene: EMORY. At least we have Greek parties.
Attractiveness of student body: IDK I think the guys at Emory are cute. Tufts has a diverse student body just as much as Emory does only Emory has more Jews and Asians who tend to be attractive while Tufts has a mediocre student body with vibrant personalities. lol @ weird hippie nerds
Beauty of campus: I never visited Tufts, so Emory by default.

BTW random story: My friend’s father was a Tufts grad, but when he went to parties outside of the university, he told girls that he went to Harvard because he was too ashamed to admit that he was from Tufts. (lol)

It’s funny you call Tuft’s student body mediocre. Have you looked at Emory’s transfer acceptance rate?–pretty much automatic for students from its affiliated community college. Like Vanderbilt, Emory is pretty hard to get into as freshman, but then school fills up with transfers with lower stats. My college guidance counselor thought Tufts was harder to get into than Emory…has higher SAT range, etc.

SAT ranges do not determine the outcome of a person’s acceptance. There are other factors to be considered such as the essay, race, income, etc. One counselor’s opinion of what is hard and what isn’t hard to get into doesn’t paint the entire truth, but I do agree that it is sometimes harder to be accepted into Tufts thanks to the university’s bout of “Tufts Syndrome.”

Both are GREAT schools! You absolutely can’t go wrong with either. Tufts is a really really good school that is becoming increasingly well-known, and its location helps a lot in that regard. I have several friends who are currently at Tufts and absolutely love it but having applied to Emory myself, I can definitely say that it has a great reputation and incredibly beautiful campus. I can’t comment in terms of making a comparison, but I’m pretty sure Emory would offer you essentially the same “fringe benefits” Tufts would. You’ll have to pick based on personal preference/comfort (have you visited both campuses?) and based on what you want to study, because both are really great in almost every respect! In the interest of being unbiased however, it is true that there is a phenomenon called “Tufts Syndrome” and the student body at Tufts is definitely very diverse and eclectic. Tufts is not just good for International Relations, but also Economics, English, Pre-med, etc. As someone mentioned above, Emory is definitely quite pre-professional, which might or might not suit you (for me, it was a huuuuge plus point) - and if you’re doing something like economics and want to combine it with business, etc., then Emory might be a better option too. You haven’t mentioned what you want to study but that should be a prime determinant in making your decision. It’s going to be a difficult decision  But I’m sure you’ll be equally happy at whichever school you pick!
