Which one?

In my opinion, it's an easy decision.

The vast majority of students in the UGA Honors program were accepted at Emory. I would know because I was accepted at Emory, but did not get into the UGA Honors program my freshman year. I still decided to go to UGA so I can get the HOPE and pay nothing for tuition vs. $30,000 a year and more at Emory.

I got a 3.95 my freshman year and applied to the honors program... this time getting in. When you come to Athens you know you are in one of the best college towns in the country. My freshman year was absolutely amazing, from Saturday gamedays to going downtown and meeting a whole ton of people, UGA is truly the place to be. I don't have a single regret at turning down Vandy and Emory, because the UGA Honors program offers the same instruction and prestige as the Ivy leagues with a more exciting and thriving college experience.

I had the same choice and went with UGA Honors. Good education, and you won't be in debt up to your eyebrows. If, like me, you're at all interested in grad school, UGA is financially the much better option.

I would not say that UGA has quite the same prestige as the Ivy Leagues, though, Honors Program or not. ;) Not that Emory quite does, either.

Anthony get the hell outa my forum. ha

gkc4 I agree with everything that's been said. UGA's Honor program is not only good, going to a large public university gives a lot of benefits that you couldn't get at Emory.

Well two factors I can definitely take out are 1) social scene and 2) size. I don't drink/go bar hopping, so the UGA lifestyle clashes with me a lot. And in terms of size, I appreciate the small nature of the UGA Honors program, but at the same time Emory is a smaller school as well.

I'm not going for "prestige", I'm mostly just trying to figure out which school would fit me better. But knowing that some people in UGA Honors have turned down schools like Duke, Emory, UNC, UVA, etc. assures me that the program is nothing to scoff at. And as for money...hm, I don't want to sound too sure of myself, but I got 40k from NYU, which I know is notorious for terrible finaid. I'm hoping Emory will give me something good, too.

I have about a week to decide while waiting for my Emory finaid package to come through!

Well, I've hope you've taken the time to check out the UGA campus. While on paper, UGA seems like a huge campus, it really gets a lot smaller after a few weeks, if not a few days. You'll be sticking around the same parts of campus, and you'll start seeing the same people (or at least they start looking the same...). Of course, the word 'small' itself is kinda relative. What I believe is small may not be what you think is small. But once you get familiar with the campus, it's really not that big. I wouldn't worry too much about size unless you're really uncomfortable with having to walk 10min+ to class.

As for the social scene...I feel like I should start a club...the non-drinkers club. Haha...then maybe we'll be able to find each other and find things to do that doesn't involve drinking and clubs.
