I'd like to hear others' opinions.

bump...............

The Gouizeta School at Emory is quite good -- I think you need to look at the student body there to see if you'd fit in. UNC on the other hand is a completely different environment and may be more to your liking. It's your call.

Concur with college parent....the schools are worlds apart socially and surroundings.

UNC with no reservations

thank you everyone. I've been to Carolina but not to Emory. From the information I've gathered, think Carolina would be more fun. However, Emory has 4 times as many books in the library and heard that they bring a lot of "good" professors since they have lots of money. I don't know..

I doubt the total Emory library is 4 times UNC or even as large. According to my handy chart UNC has over 5.6 million while Emory has 2.8 million volumes.

barrons, I just looked up both libraries and you are correct. I don't know where but, I did see somewhere that Emory has 4 times as many volumes than UNC. Oh well, thanks for correction.

UNC is not going to be quite as cutthroat as Emory. If you are more of a party type, UNC, especially with the strong business school, is right for you. If you want the smaller campus feel with less school spirit and party atmosphere but a very academic environment, Emory is right.

thanks, igolf. can anyone tell me if one school is more likely to get me into a good grad. school over another? I'm curious because Emory is ranked higher than UNC overall, but UNC's undergraduate business is ranked higher than Emory. (I know ranks don't mean much but it is one of the big factors when choosing colleges)

Should not make any difference.

thanks, oldman. any other opinions?

Undergrad rankings for these schools are the only thing you should be looking at...if you're looking at rankings. The placement of their grad schools doesn't matter to you now b/c these schools will require years work experience most likely. If you like a smaller, more competitive environment, pick Emory. If you want a bigger, spirited party school, pick UNC. Rankings when they are rated that high are pretty meaningless. Both schools will get big recruiters there. Congrats for getting into these schools. I got denied out of state UNC and I'm going towards business. I'm between 10th ranked Indiana and 3rd ranked Michigan. Good luck.

Luckily, I am a NC resident. I don't think I could have been admitted if I was OOS. well, good luck with you also, igolf.
