I am trying to decide between Emory and Washington University in SL for business and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks

Emory, for these reasons:

1) Atlanta's hot job market
2) Northeast alumni and business connections
3) Rising national recognition
4) Hosts the undergraduate business leadership conference every year (the largest undergraduate business conference in the country, as well as the most prestigious)
5) No class on Fridays!

I'll add the higher undergrad and grad B-school rankings to that. St. Louis is not a great city for business and Wash U is not a great school for business either.

what IS washu good for? and why are they ranked so high...according to USNews...i don't really see much going for them, st louis rated most dangerous city in the US, no prominent graduate schools, only high SAT scores and a low acceptance rate. WHY??

Wash U's b-school does not have classes on fridays

branjo, WashU's medical school is one of the best in the US (ranked #4 nationally). WashU holds alot of its reputation from its incredible medical and pre-medical programs. It also attracts alot of top students because it is a school full of very high perfoming students, has caring faculty who actually teach the classes, has a beautiful campus and great campus life (it is in Clayton, an upscale suburb of St. Louis, not the city proper), has a friendly and warm atmosphere, and provides lots of flexibility for crossing majors and minors across the schools and even transferring across the schools.

WashU is also constantly improving itself and for example has recently recruited some of the top Economic professors with the intent of having one of the top Economic depts. in the US.

wash u business is garbage. i had a friend who went there and couldn't wait to transfer out. they dont put any emphasis on it.

Goankit, give me a break! WashU's undergraduate business school is ranked 16th in the nation. While not as highly ranked as Emory, it is far from garbage!

You won't go wrong at either business school. They're both excellent institutions and you should really be looking at what the fit is for yourself. The city that the business school in is really not relevant unless you're planning to settle in that city. For instance, if you were going to Duke's grad biz school (fuqua) or michigan's ross....well, I don't think those students are saying that they wouldn't go to those schools because of the lack of opportunities in Durham or Ann Arbor. I really believe that the proper way that a "prospi" (a term I learned while visiting nu) should look at the individual schools is by "tiers".....when you're debating between schools in similar tiers, I can ensure you that your education and your post-school prospects will be relatively similar. After considering that, you should make your choice based on where you feel you'll be happiest for four years. I can ensure you that being unhappy at the school you attend will definitely influence your post-school opportunities!
