This is extremely last minute but I am just wondering what people on this forum will think. I have already sent my deposit to Emory but I have such an attachment to W&M (really "felt" it when I visited campus and met some firendly people) that I am somewhat reconsidering. I do have until 5 pm today to mail everything out!

I am aiming to study environmental science and international relations / political science. The ENVS programs at the two schools seem comparable, and W&M has an internationally acclaimed IR program, whereas Emory is well known for polisci.

I am out-of-state for W&M, but I can get $10,000 off W&M from the DC government. I did not get any scholarships from W&M but I did from Emory, resulting in Emory being about $7000 more than W&M.

I don't really mind the lack of social life at W&M, because I know it is a pleasant and intellectual environment to be in, and I value that. However, going to Atlanta would allow me to "put down roots" in a new city and expose me to more resources, both of the city as well as of a school that probably has better laboratory and other facilities.

I would like to do research, but the opportunities seem to balance out at the two schools.

Over all, I feel like I might be more comfortable at W&M, so it boils down to whether I should take a new experience (Emory) over someplace where I am almost certain that I will be happy.

Any thoughts?
