Does anyone know the past statistics of people being accepted off from the Emory wait list? Is there any former Emory student here (who has gotten off the wait list) who can guide us through the process?

I'm a bit discouraged, but will not give up hope! Emory is my number one choice. It just really bites having to wait for such a long time, and then finding out you have to wait an additional time period :|

...So. Who is accepting a position on the wait list?

I will definitely stay on it as well. Anyone else submitting their app to Oxford? (I know llwang is from the other thread…) Good luck everyone! :-)

I am! Most people this year applied to a lot of schools, for the heck of applying to a top school. I just hope that we that actually are passionate about going there get in.

I feel the same way… And although I may not be the most qualified student, my heart is set on Emory. I hope those of us who really want to be there can all get in.

“I am. The odds are pretty bad… last year about 5% were accepted off waitlist.”

ugh…what a downer but we must not give up! i sincerely wish all of yall good luck :-)

^ ack. SORRY! did NOT mean to be a downer, just thought everyone should know how it really was. I honestly don’t understand why I was waitlisted - my stats aren’t that great and thought I’d be rejected. Anyway, I’d for sure go to Emory if I was accepted!! I hope those of us truly passionate about Emory will get off this list. :)

Ohh sorry I actually meant the stats were depressing, not you lol! Sorry for being vague although I would prefer hearing the blunt facts any day instead of having false hope Anyway, I hope it all works out for you! I honestly thought I would be flat out rejected too, at least it means Emory saw in us something good ;)

A student tour guide there told us he got off of waitlist by expressing to admissions by letter that he looked at it as just a chance to show them further how qualified he was and how much he wanted to attend. He also visited again several times during the waiting period… and he got in.

I’ll be accepting my spot, but as we know, a waitlist is as good as the death sentence…

If I decided to accept the admissions offer from Oxford, and then am pulled off the waitlist, would there be any stipulations? Would I have to pay both deposits?

I wasn’t waitlisted to emory but I am on the waitlists to a whoooole bunch of other schools and apppparantly!!

the more you update your stats (with new awards, honors, scores, recommendations) the chances get better. it’s a secret to all admission offices called the (green-pen method?? not so sure on the name) but if you fax or call the school about an update they get your card and write the update on it and the card gets moved up to the front and so on. The more you update the more green pen markings their will be showing your interest.

good luck guys! I’ll be rooting for ya’ll. I’m not for sure if i’m going to emory yet but the moment i know i’m not i’ll give it up so one of you guys can go!

remember! show Emory you’re realllly interested!

Is anyone here planning to attend Oxford if they don’t get off the Emory wait list? I’m still trying to decide between Oxford (if I get in) or a scholarship to a top uni in Canada (I’m a Canadian citizen w/ residency in US). I heard great things about Oxford from this forum, despite many considering it as a backdoor to Emory. :|
