Emory's national reputation

^^ I am not disagreeing, my only point was that straight out of college, searching for that first job prestige comes into play. I have heard from many people that have the view “O he went to a great xyz schools.” so we can obviously train him on the job since he is smart. Most people, who enter the work force out of undergrad do not neccessarily have or need to have business experience. Barrons my question to you then is what are these regular companies that prefer Emory to Ivies, are they on wall street or in Atlanta and I have a feeling they recruit at Emory more, because there have less of a demand in the Northeast. Just some last thoughts.

Edit: Cayuga try and attack me even more on this and other threads, it really shows your intellectual side. I understand you feel a need to constantly defend ourself and your school from “sub-par” status, but its ok. Its not your fault you attend the “**** ivy” nor is it neccessarily your fault that you are ■■■■■■■■. Have a nice day.

Thank you for that last comment Bescraze, so where would Emory stand in terms of its business program for someone that wanted to work in finance but not in NYC?

talk about ad-hominem attacks. you’re the one saying others are the ones attacking you, not debating your arguments. you clearly have no intention to lead any discussions with straight, non-confrontational way, only wanting to enrage other posters, who have a much longer history of posting on this forum bringing useful information and viewpoints for many to share. Or, are you this ignorant, not being able to discern your language and use unsubstantiated, unncessary use of this kind of inflammatory and degrading language against pretty much most of posters, most of schools, on most threads? Despite your facetious logic of arguments and inability to read other posters’ points within context, and your facetious rhetoric, you are accusing cayuga of these things? Accusing Cornell of being dumb? I suggest you run a reality check on your self.

Edit: After all, I see no point anyone on this forum should ever debate with you on anything, Bescraze. We have no business arguing, or even trying to inform, people like you. I don’t even know why you are here. I wish that you aren’t as big of a d-bag in real life as you so apprently appear to be on this forum.

Firms like Cousins Development, Southern Companies, Post Properties, regional Ibanks, regional banks, advertising firms, etc.

Most people recruited for business jobs DO NOT come from schools in the northeast at all. Do you not know that there are 1000’s of large and mid-sized companies throughout the US and most of them never go to the northeast to recruit in large numbers. How narrow is your view of the US??

I have nothing wrong with somebody posting their own opinions. But it would be awfully convenient if I could selectively block the posts of some after coming to the conclusion that they have nothing to offer.

eh sorry Barrons, I didn’t really phrase that question well.

cayuga,
Censorship never solved anything. Trust the other readers to have the same ability as you to interpret and judge the posts of others. Most folks on here have more than an ounce of intelligence and can figure it out.

Your rhetorical use of the word facetious, harms your sentence structure and argument as a whole. I would suggest varying sentence structure, diction and word choice more in order to assert your argument in a persuasive and readable fashion. I also may add that pretentious wording tends to be looked down upon.

Finally if you look at other threads many many people agree with me, its just you select few who don’t. Thats ok you guys can go to the flagship state college and the “best fit”, good luck with that—we will see where you are in twenty years.

Why are you using AP English on these boards??

Don’t be hatin’ on the fit. That’s actually very important.

Whoever said anything about censoring? Nobody is suggesting that we delete or suppress other’s comments unless they are deliberately hateful.

All I’m suggesting is that users be given the opportunity to selectively block commentators who they pretty much know will not help to inform their own discussion.

In my opinion, not enough credit is being given to Emory in this thread… it is a great academic institution with many top ranked programs… grad and undergrad… for undergrad, very good for psycology (top 10 in nation for social psycology), top 10 for several other departments… pharmacology, french, religion etc… for grad, top 20-25 med, law, business, nursing school… and these are just a few… I am an international student and people here know very few school’s names… not even the lower ivies but people, surprisingly enough, know Emory’s (and some other schools like Rice) name… and according to the a recent Global University Ranking(GUR), it was ranked 30 something in the world… higher than many Ivy Leagues like Brown and Dartmouth… I know rankings aren’t perfect but it does not rank that high by being farrrr worse than an Ivy League (as some people here claim) … people seem to be so delusional… just because a school does not have the Ivy brand (Emory is a “Southern Ivy” for what thats worth) does not mean it is not a great academic institution… also, just because everyone in the North does not about Emory’s excellent academics does not take away from the fact that it is a great institution… it simply means that people are ignorant… anyways, poeple need to stop hating on non-Ivies like U. Chicago, Emory, Rice, Duke… and please stop branding every non-Ivy league schools as " a school for Ivy Rejects" … not everything cares about what athletic conference(Ivy League) their school is part of.
