Does NU emphasize a lot on the SAT writing score. I actually took the SAT II writing subject test last January and I got a 640...but every other component from SAT IIS to SAT I is above 700 with 2 800s, so I am just curious/

You took the old SAT?

Well, I talked with NU about the new SAT and they said they're only using the SAT I Writing section as "experimental" this year, meaning it wouldn't count and they're just trying to figure out how to work it into college admissions. I dunno if that helps, but that'd mean the new SAT would go under a 1600 system this year.

Hey Neo, are you absolutely sure that they're are just using writing as experimental? The reason I ask is because I'm contemplating having my SAT handscored because I believe something went wrong with the mult choice. Anyway, I sure hope you're right.

Yeah, I'm sure...it was mentioned during one of their introductory sessions over the summer. Well, that's what they say anyway...and I take what colleges say with a grain of salt. They also said that since they wouldn't use the SAT essay to judge applicants, they'd put the emphasis on those personal statement essays.

It doesn't affect me either way, since Writing neither helps nor hurts my app...it's right between my CR and Math scores.

writing is my strongest area, thus my best score. of course i messed up the mc on one and the essay on another, but if you put the two best subscores together it would have been an 800, and luckily, they see those subscores, but i guess it doesn't matter if they don't count them...

The split score taking didn't help me...I scored 100 points lower on my 2nd test and made no gains whatsoever. Oh well.

I hope they look at it...writing was my best section.(660 CR, 740 M, 770 W)

Hopefully my 33 ACT can make up for whatever shortcomings my SAT scores might have.
