As a recent high school graduate, I'm looking for a summer job to save some money. When filling out the GPA on my applications, they don't specify which GPA they are looking for. I received 4.0 GPA during both semesters of my senior year, though my overall GPA is lower than that. Any advice to which GPA I should put?

Always assume that the GPA requested is your overall cumulative GPA. Once you are in college, you can use your major GPA, but every school has requirements to use it.

Sorry bud, don’t even think of it :). I agree with chrisw.

Just listing your Senior year GPA would be just as ridiculous as listing your GPA from a single class. It’s not what they are asking for.

Thanks for your advice! My conscience agrees with you both, haha. It’s just that I have no real working experience, except for volunteering. So I’m stumped for ways to present myself as a more appealing applicant.

If there’s room, put down your overall gpa, and then in parentheses, put down your senior year gpa to show your upward trend. So you’re being honest but also showing your improvement.

Thanks! I just added that to my resume :)
