Hello, all!
I’m applying for a summer position at a museum and I’m being asked for prior employment experience; the closest I’ve gotten to actual experience was community service the past two summers - at a local nursing home, rather regularly, and sporadically at a local animal shelter.
Would it be better to leave off this experience or no? I believe that if I had to mention either, talking about my time at the nursing home would be more substantial, as I’ve spent more time there and know the people there more substantially than those I worked with during my time at the animal shelter.
Thanks for any advice!
You want to tell them as many places as you possibly can!
They want to know you can handle responsibilities in a work environment. If you had several experiences and one was negative I’d recommend excluding it, but both mentioned sound quite good.
This is the advice given by my school’s business teacher, and it’s served me well so far. Personally, I don’t see how an unsubstantial experience can /hurt/ you.
Good luck!
I agree with @OMPursuit they know you might not have work experience but if you can show them that you have spent your time helping the community that would be awesome
I don’t think I’d put it under employed because you weren’t employed; you volunteered. That being said, I would definatley put it somewhere else on the application because that is something that they would be intrested in hearing and is a positive for you.
