EMT Cert Programs in Berkeley?

Anyone know of any programs that will get you trained to be a paramedic within 5 or so weeks (can be time-intensive) over summer from May-Early June, not too expensive and accessible by public transport in Berkeley???

PS-you should answer this thread if you know something. After all, I might have to perform mouth-to-mouth on you someday, and well...if you don't answer this thread then I cant become a paramedic and save your life now, can I ;) ?

:) happy studying evweebodeeeeeeeeee

No idea if their scheduling will work for you, but [Merritt College](http://merritt.peralta.edu/degrees-majors/allied-health-programs/emergency-medical-technician-emt) in Oakland has an EMT program. You may want to check other nearby community colleges.

oh man! this looks great! thanks!

just to clarify for you, EMT is not the same thing as paramedic. You need to become an EMT before becoming a paramedic. EMT is volunteer mainly, and paramedics are paid. The EMT courses are usually intense, while the paramedic courses are extremely intense and are equivalent to getting an associate’s degree.

Also, to my knowledge Berkeley does have an emergency response team so you could always contact them about where you can get trained.

haha. yup i am aware of the difference. i dont think i am nearly hefty enough to be a very good paramedic at any rate

is this a campus club you’re referring to or do you mean city of berkeley?

A EMT club started up in Berkeley last year, but I don’t know if it’s still active. If you are interested, I would contact the email found here: [Student Affairs](http://students.berkeley.edu/osl/studentgroups/public/index.asp?todo=getgroupinfo&SGID=14699)
