Hey guys, I have just been browsing through CC and noticed someone mentioning that starting with the class of 2020( Thts me lol), this year’s applicants will no longer have the choice to select an alternate school if they do not get into their first choice school. Please discuss!
It may have reached a point where the percentage of “alternate admits” was so small(and increased applications) that it was no longer feasible to offer that option.
^^^agree
Just asked my D, who worked with admissions & she confirmed my thought. Said it created a huge amount of work for admissions & very rare for it to ever happen. Just got to a point where they did not feel it was worth it.
Hey csdad, can you provide more input by what you mean when you say it is “rare for it to ever happen”? And it’s awesome that your daughter works with admissions! You get the insider’s news haha!
I think he means that if you get denied your first choice, rarely does it happen that they will accept you into your alternate choice. Just my opinion, don’t want to put words in @csdad mouth!
Sorry I wasn’t clearer. Just as Tiggy translated for you, my D said it became so rare that anyone ever got accepted to Alternate choice, & Apps were increasing, they just did not feel it was worth the work it took.
