End of Duke TIP

This posting also applies to summer programs section, but I know it impacts many kids and parents on the path to boarding school.

That is too bad, it was a great program. Thanks for posting.

So sad to see this. S thoroughly enjoyed his summers at Duke Tip schools and provided him with so many helpful experiences academically and socially.

That is too bad. I worry about CTY. We don’t have any connection to Duke TIP but I know many kids who do.

Yes - we got the notice from Duke Tip and then wondered about CTY. We just learned that a couple of summer programs at colleges are already planning to be online - no in person this summer.

Last we heard from CTY was that their online programs this past summer were so successful that they were expanding them for 2021. Now, that was in what amounts to a marketing email, so who knows. But I too worry. My kids LOVED their summer experiences in CTY but have no desire to participate remotely.

This is so sad. My kids didn’t participate in DukeTip, but did participate in CTY. Although neither kid participated in the CTY summer programs, I did (way back when!) For some kids, these programs are a lifeline.

For what it’s worth my son took 2 CTY LIVE classes last summer after his in person experience was cancelled. He LOVED them. It was a great part of his summer. He’d taken cty online classes classes but never the camps.

Oh and he didn’t even get his top choices. He would taken another one this fall if we weren’t applying to schools.

That’s sad. My kids never did TIP but they did like CTY. For some kids it’s the only way to get deep learning before high school.

Sorry to see it go. My s’s enjoyed their summers on the different college campuses.
