I'm certainly looking forward to improving my ACT score and GPA next fall.

Thanks

You didn’t give that much information so it’s hard to say. That GPA isn’t great but if you have an upward trend then that’s good… Once again, hard to make judgement.

I do have an upward trend, I forgot to add Ecs, awards, and service:

Awards: 9th Grade Academic Achievement award in Programming, 10th grade JV hockey all star, JV hockey coaches award

Leadership: Head of Programming robotics team

ECs: FIRST Robotics, academic competition, March for Life club, varsity ice hockey, Theatre Society, stock market club, intramural soccer and volleyball, Club ice hockey, eBay powerseller, jv lacrosse, and 250+ hours of community service.

Don’t dismiss Temple as a safety. The average GPA is a 3.42, it says so on the website. Not much of a chance at Penn State University Park either, your GPA is too low. The average Penn State University Park GPA is 3.745.
So, you said you took 2 honors classes and 3 AP classes. Are those for your junior year only, or overall?

thats overall, basically I did really bad freshman and sophomore years i got a 2.65 for both this year I got a 3.7

Well I just wrote you like a 5 paragraph essay but It got deleted… soo… to answer your question honestly, I really hope that GPA is unweighted. if it is then good ! not to bad. if not then… I would say you will get into Hofstra by FAR. Temple, and Drexel would still be possible but a reach school. The others, not a chance sorry. but only if thats your weighted GPA which I don’t think it is. If its unweighted like i think it is then you have a really good chance of getting into all of your top 10 ! (except maybe Penn State, their tough, I barely got in. ) My GPA at the end of highschool non weighted was a 3.5 close to a 3.6 about. Weighted was a 4.1. I got a 1740 on my SATS with writing, without an 1170. Im a white female and throughout highschool I was a part of the Varisty dance team, several clubs, and was the lead ina few school plays. I also did a lot of charity work and stuff. However, like you my freshman year was crappy as well. Took forever to pull my GPA up, and it was the only year when I had a C on my report card which yes colleges did see for 9th grade but good news is COLLEGES LOVE TO SEE IMPROVEMENT ! its almost good that your 9th grade year sucked because they get to see how much you improve and they know that u can improve even more in college. They love seeing improvement. My advice for you that I promise you that if you do this you will get into every single college on your list (except maybe Penn State University Park) is to take very hard classes your senior year and kick ass in them (I took 4 honors and an AP, hardest year in high school by far but it was worth it! I got into my top and even Penn State University Park, for their pre-med program, but in order to attend in the fall I would have to take a summer course.) So take hard classes, honors and ap, you know the deal. I would definitely retake your ACT and SAT. (BTW your ACT for every single one of those schools is above their expectations!) Im only saying to retake it so it can make up for you GPA. Write a KILLER college essay about an experience that changed who you are or realized who you are. Get involved in school! Join a bunch of clubs, a sport if you havent already and help out around town! I would get 3 teachers to write you recommendations, 2 academic and 1 personal. (They help!) If you do all this then I promise you, you will 150% get into Drexel and 99% of the other schools! I know people who are going to all the schools on your list who only had a little GPA then u do know, and a lower ACT/SAT score. Schools LOVE IT (especially University of Delaware) when they see how hard you worked your last year of school… a lot of people say junior year is most important, but its really not. I would say Jr and Sr. year are equally important. You canNOT slack off now! And also, dont listen to people who say that youre GPA is too low for a certain school. I mean, to a certain extent. But almost all the schools I applied to, on their website either their weighted GPA was higher or in almost every case for me their SAT was higher (Im not the best standardized test taker). But I got into all of them! Including on your list, Penn State, Udel, and Syracuse. For example TCNJ and Binghamtons GPAS were like 4.3 or 4.4 and their sats were like 2000! But I still was accepted. So dont stress to much about your bummer GPA. They see that you worked very hard to improve it and WILL appreciate it. Sorry for the lengthy response but when I read your post and read your list I knew you had potential to get into every one of those schools ! So PLEASEE take my advice and I PROMISE you will have success. Drexel is not even the hardest on that list so you should be fine. (Their website said my GPA and SAT was only just spot on, like a target school but they still offered me 20 grand even when I didnt apply!). Good luck! and contact me with any questions!

Thanks for the detailed response. Yes the GPA is unweighted, I understand that penn state will be the hardest to get it because they primarily look at stats. I will need to show lots of interest to get in. My guidence counselor has told me that 1st semester of senior year will be extremely important for me. Im also taking my hardest classes this upcoming year.
