Hi, i'm currently a senior in high school, and i'm doing a summer internship in Shanghai, China. It's going to end in about 2 weeks.

I was just wondering if i should i ask my supervisor to write me a rec or some kind of feedback letter or something. How should i ask her? shes usually pretty busy, and my relationship with her is good, but not great...
Can i use the letter/rec as a rec letter when i apply to college this year?

Also, should i get her some kind of gift or something before i leave? There's about 7 people who i work close to/with, should i get them something too? How should i say goodbye on the last day?
The day before my last day, there's this team building dinner thing, should i say something or do something during that dinner to let them all know that i'll be leaving?

Thanks.

If your supervisor is always running around, try to find a day when she’s less busy, and have her write one out overnight or over a weekend. Its much better than sending an email a month after you leave when something huge might pop up. If your college app’s deadline is this fall/next spring, then you should have no problem using it.

As for gifts, that’s a definite yes, especially if they are from China, where its quite customary. However, try not to get something thats useless or local- they can get that themselves. Look for something from where you came from, or something thats meaningful. Its hard, I know, but they will remember you.

If your internship had been planned to end on a specific date… you won’t exactly need to go up to your boss and tell them you’re quitting. Lett people know you’ll b eleaving a few days in advance. They might plan something for you, but in any case, it won’t seem like you’ve just run away.
