has anyone else heard that they won't continue tag for 2013 or I just rally behind? I saw a post in a fb ucsd transfer page and was just curious if there's any validity

My friend, who attends UCSD and is a student council representative, says UCSD definitely plans to end TAG but is unsure whether it’ll continue for 2013. She said it will most likely end, not immediately, but definitely within the next two years.

What is TAG by the way?

This is very interesting. I wonder why they want to end tag? TAG is transfer admission guarantee. If you meet certain requirements then you’re automatically admitted. Example for ucsd this year, complete IGETC and have 3.5 gpa to qualify for ucsd tag. If you have completed IGETC and have atleast a 3.5 you have automatic admission into ucsd. Tag is only for CCC students

ucsd is close to UCLA/UCB tier imo and prior to the 3.5 which i think they think is still to low for a shool of their caliber. Plus they get alot of tag, because of the gpa requirement.

Sounds like they really want to improve their rankings and prestige.

@blackmamba I think you’re right. Sounds like they want to improve their rep and level of prestige. This irritates me. I really believe schools boast about how many students they reject. The more students that are rejected, the higher the prestige of the school, which leads to more and more students wanting to go to that school.

@SBaz45 Oh really? I never knew that, thank you for that information, but really they’re ending it? I’ve been debating whether I should transfer back to California next year from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and I think it would be better to do my second year at a community college… What other schools do TAG and what is included in the IGETC?
