Ending first semester with a C on my transcript?

I am at a high risk in ending AP World History with a C this semester which will end up going on my transcript. Is there still a chance for me to get into competitive universities such as UCs or UT Austin? I usually receive A’s and high B’s and have never done badly in school until this year with the class.

UCs do not see it until your final high school transcript if and when you matriculate to one. However, UC admission is conditional on doing well enough in your senior year. In the past, a GPA threshold (usually 3.0) was commonly specified. So you need to do well enough in the rest of your courses to keep your senior year GPA high enough to meet whatever threshold is specified. Obviously, a D or F grade by itself could mean rescission, regardless of GPA.

Thank you for your reply. I am currently a sophomore in high school and am already stressing over the application process haha.
