yeah there's a lot of anti-vitamin-water stuff nowadays. but it [some flavors] still tastes good ;o

I never drink energy drinks, and I don't understand why people drink them in the morning (or at all, to be frank). That's just... ugh, nasty.

If I want an energy boost midday, I'll eat an apple.

Ughhh energy drinks...

I've tried so hard to stay away from those. I'd say a powernap (if you can control sleep well) is both healthier and more efficient.

Stay off of those!!! Of all things to do to your body...

Now "Energy" and "Power" Vitamin Waters, I get one a day =)

Some weeks I have about 1 a day, then I'll go months without having one.

I had to drink a can of Red Bull and then go through some physical routine for a friend's science experiment once...never again.

coffee - twice-thrice daily.

red bull - for major all nighters, multiple day all nighters,

Red Bull, but they're really expensive.

Energy drinks taste disgusting.

If I need caffeine, I just drink soda.

Why can't people just use pure sugar?

sugar makes you crash when the effect wears off if you were THAT tired beforehand. If you need one to jumpstart the wake-up process, it won't be as bad because you'll get jolted into an energetic state.

If you try to use energy drinks to stay awake, the crash from the sugar will just make you drowsy after 30 minutes.

Gosh. 5 hour energy > pure sugar.

i dont drink them. i tried a monster, and a couple hours after i drank it, i conked out (on a weekend luckily). I stick to coffee after i read some energy drinks can have bad effects on your body.

so...does anyone recommend drinking energy drinks before the SAT?

I'm pretty much the definition of a complete energy drink junkie. I used to drink up to 6 zero carb full throttles a day. Now I'm at 3 or 4. Unfortunately, rather than experiencing the effects of caffeine, I now constantly feel tired and bogged down. In all, I've found them to be more damaging to my body and mind than I had anticipated them to be.

To the poster above: DO NOT drink an energy drink before the SAT if you do not consume one in the morning on a regular basis. It will only cause you to be agitated and to have to go to the restroom. However, if you do drink one every morning, go ahead. It's not a very good idea to deviate from your daily habits the day of the test. Also, if you usually drink coffee in the morning, go ahead and have that. Do not drink the energy drink. It's not just the caffeine that affects you; there are several chemicals in energy drinks that could inhibit you from performing optimally.

PS. Never drink 12 energy drinks in one day. Bad experience.

^
What happened to you that day, themoonisdown?

Haha, sorry if I made it sound severe. Basically,

1.) I felt like I was going to have a heart attack throughout the entire night due to severe heart palpitations
2.) Hallucinated/became uber paranoid
3.) experienced a major high and an even major low

the dose was just a tad bit overboard for a 5'2" girl :)

it's funny how I see all my friends drinking monsters. To me they're like the water down version of Red Bull. I try to not drink energy drinks because of the sugar. If I need a caffeine boost, there's always diet coke and coke zero. In fact, those two have way more caffeine than the regular coke
