Taking SAT II in Physics, Math Level 2, and US History in November. I don't think UIUC requires any, but I might as well send them on as I'm taking them for other applications. I expect over 700+ in Physics, 750+ in Math, and 800 in US History.

truthfully if i was in the admissions office it would look like you were more interested in business. anyways, i would say you're more borderline than a guarantee. a little bit above the borderline actually. your grades look like they're improving since Freshmen year and the admissions office likes to see that. SAT is pretty good, GPA is that weighted?

Yea, sorry, that's weighted. UW, it'd be about 3.386. Freshman year was my only bad year, and because of that I think UIUC will overlook the fact that my total GPA is that low, since I did extremely well last year and well the year before.

I can understand why you think admission might think I'm interested in business (I am somewhat interested in business as a double-major/minor). I only took two "business" courses which were Programming and Business Management. For taking each of those, I was automatically eligible for FBLA and was eligible for BHS because I met the requirements. I wasn't very involved in either one.

My main focus still is in CS. The reason I have so few EC's, is because I preferred spending my time coding, etc. :P
I've worked on several open-source programming projects and have done freelance web design/development for a while. Should I include that in my application?

Your SAT for admission is 1400 since UIUC ignores the writing section. SAT II's, even if sent, are not used for admission. SAT is in middle 50%, GPA appears low likely making it a reach, though class rank is key; improvement from freshman to junior year will be considered a favorable factor. Write good essays and get everything in by Nov 15.

My school doesn't rank, but it's a very competitive public high school (top 50 in the US, I believe).

The essays shouldn't be a problem. I didn't realize until today that UIUC had a priority filing period, does this just mean students who apply before Nov. 15 have priority over students who apply later? Also, do the "supporting documents" include teacher recommendations, or can they be sent along later?

There are no teacher recommendations, applying before Nov 15 means you ahve a higher chance of getting in and not having rank might be a problem. Illinois loves to look at rank.

Those who apply and get everything in by Nov 15 are reviewed for admission first and thus have somewhat of an advantage over those who apply later. The needed supporting documents other than the application with essays are: official SAT or ACT test score sent by the testing agency, your official high school transcript, your signature page to an on-line app, and the high school counselor's filled out form sent in by the counselor. When you get to the end of the on-line app and send, you will then get a signature page for you to sign and the high school counselor's form to print out, both of which you take to your counselor who sends those in with your transcript; remember all of those must be in UIUC's hands by Nov 15 to comply with the priority date deadline. Recommendations, even if sent, are generally ignored. Illinois estimates rank if school does not do it and it considers competiveness of high school.

That's a bit frustrating. I'd like to give myself until a few days before the deadline to work on the essays, but I'll have to get the counselor form to my counselor ASAP and the signature form in the mail further in advance. Is there a link to the PDF for each of those or could someone be so kind as to send me the PDF's for each?

A little googling and I came across this link: <a href="http://www.oar.uiuc.edu/future/pdf/SigPage_Domestic.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.oar.uiuc.edu/future/pdf/SigPage_Domestic.pdf</a></p>

Can somebody confirm that this is the correct form? I assume that the signature form and counselor form are together on these two pages?

Yes, that's the correct form.

I got my OCT SAT scores back and I improved by 90 points.

1490
M-750
V-740
(W-650)

That now puts me from the middle 50% to the top 25%. Will that increase help my chances significantly, or only slightly?
