Engineer. 5 on AB Calc. Should I take Math 115 or 116?

I feel like i have a solid grasp on calculus, I learn math easily, and scored a 5 on the AB Calc test with very little difficulty, and only took the course my senior year. I also scored in the 91 or 93 percentile for the math placement, if that means anything. Despite this, I have heard that calc at umich is difficult. I will probably go over my AP calc review book over the summer. I am also in CoE if that is relevant. I am just concerned that my first semester will be very overwhelming. Thanks!

Math at UM is very difficult because you have to know how to explain EVERYTHING. It’s not good enough just to know how to do the math, you have to know why you are doing it, know how to explain what the answer means in context and the significance of the answer. Basically, a substantial amount of the points on a math exam is from actual writing.

Thanks for the response, and thats good to know. Would you recommend someone in my situation to take 115 or 116 first semester?
