Hey, I've heard lots of great advice for people majoring in EE and CE and I just wanted to start a post where anyone with some advice or tips could let us future freshman of anything to expect or anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Several of us have gone through the program. What would you like to know specifically?

I would like to know about study groups. I am certain that for some of the upper division stuff it would be very difficult to make it alone. Do groups meet at places on campus to form study groups? Meet at homes in outlying areas? I am hoping that I can get with a core group of fellow classmates and study at my home or others homes nearby where I plan to move in Cedar Park.

I would like to know just some general questions such as about how many hours a day/week did you study? Which courses were harder/hardest? Which field did you major in by the way kkwa?

I did electrical engineering sprinkled with several computer engineering tech area courses. I’m now working in software.

SpunOne – My experience was that by the time you reached upper division classes, you knew several classmates who were also taking the same courses. I’m not sure how others got through, but for me, having friends who were taking/had taken a course was instrumental to helping me get through the program. To that end, we usually met at ENS.

AK – To be successful, you have to dedicate yourself to it. There are some weeks where you won’t spend much time studying. Other weeks, you may spend 4 hours a day or more studying. Specifically for courses such as 319K, 306, 312, you may spend substantially more time than others, depending on your programming background. As you move into upper division courses, you adjust better to the workload. However, even in my last semester taking 460N, it was brutal.

Thanks for the answer kkwa. I appreciate it.
